A recent report about the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie indicates the Guardians of the Galaxy will have a major part to play. While stars like Captain America, Thor, and Hulk are confirmed to appear in the 2026 film, some characters remain unconfirmed. This includes James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy team, who haven’t been seen in a Marvel movie since Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
According to sources, the Guardians of the Galaxy might not play a huge role in the upcoming Doomsday event. During a recent Q&A session on The Cosmic Circus, Alex Perez suggested that Zoe Saldaña’s Gamora will likely be sidelined, serving primarily to illustrate how the boundaries between different universes are breaking down.
With all the past and present members of the Guardians of the Galaxy – like Star-Lord, Rocket, Groot, Nebula, Drax, Mantis, Gamora, Kraglin, Cosmo, Adam Warlock, and Phyla-Vell – which character isn’t predicted to appear in either ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ or ‘Avengers: Secret Wars,’ even in a small cameo?
Alex Perez thinks Gamora won’t be a major character going forward, but believes her storyline – specifically the different versions of her appearing in ‘Endgame’ and ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ – will be used to show how the boundaries between universes are breaking down. The Gamora we’ve seen recently isn’t from the main Marvel timeline.
Perez didn’t share much information about the rest of the team. The Marvel insider said they hadn’t heard much about the Guardians besides Star-Lord, and noted that Chris Pratt’s character was expected to play a role.
To be honest, I don’t know much about the Guardians except for Star-Lord. Since he was originally going to be part of this, let’s focus on him for now and see what happens.
At the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the original team broke up. Now, Rocket Raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper) and Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel) are leading a new group of heroes, including Adam Warlock, Cosmo the Space Dog, and Kraglin.
As a huge fan of the Guardians, I’ve been a little worried about what’s next for the team, especially after James Gunn moved on. We haven’t heard anything official about whether everyone will be back for the next big team-up, but one of the actors seems pretty confident he won’t be involved. It’s a bit unsettling, to be honest!
Will the Guardians of the Galaxy Appear in Avengers: Doomsday?

Although the cast list for Avengers: Doomsday is quite extensive and doesn’t currently include any members of the Guardians of the Galaxy, it’s still possible they will appear in the film.
Recent rumors suggest another announcement for the upcoming Doomsday cast is coming soon. This event could reveal more actors joining the multiverse film, potentially including Brie Larson as Captain Marvel and a new version of Spider-Man.
While the Guardians of the Galaxy might show up in a future movie, it’s not certain everyone will return. Chris Pratt, as Star-Lord, is currently the most likely member to appear, with reports suggesting he’ll be in one of the next two Avengers films.
A previous report suggests Chris Pratt’s character might assemble a new team of unconventional heroes on Earth in a future Marvel Cinematic Universe story. The ‘Doomsday’ event could be where this team comes together.
I’m still holding out hope that we’ll see the rest of the Guardians team again! While it seems Zoe Saldaña has definitely finished her time as Gamora, which is heartbreaking, I can’t help but feel the others are still out there, ready to jump back into action if needed. It’s just a matter of whether Marvel will bring them back, and I really hope they do!
