As a total movie and TV buff, I’ve definitely noticed how Amazon’s Prime Video has become a major player in the streaming world – it just makes sense with so many of us watching everything online now. They’re not just making a ton of their own shows, but they also have a huge library of existing movies and series. Honestly, it’s right up there with Netflix, Disney+, and HBO Max as one of my go-to streaming services.
Prime Video continues to grow in popularity, and its commitment to releasing new seasons quickly is a major reason why. While it’s currently doing very well, big changes are coming in 2026 that will usher in a new phase for the service.
Prime Video has consistently released popular, defining shows like Bosch, Jack Ryan, and more recently, The Boys. However, by 2026, all of these original series will have ended, or at least won’t be continuing as they currently are.
Prime Video Is Set To Lose One Of Its Biggest Shows As The Boys Ends Next Year
Since its debut in 2019, The Boys has been a huge success for Prime Video, but it will conclude in 2026. This means the streaming service is losing one of its most popular shows. The series offered a unique, often shocking, take on the superhero genre, standing out from typical Marvel and DC stories. Despite being controversial and sometimes disturbing, The Boys has clearly had a significant impact on television.
With its strong acting, captivating story, and willingness to push boundaries, The Boys has become incredibly popular. Season 5 promises to be a major event as it brings the show’s compelling story to a close. It’s expected to be one of Prime Video’s most-watched seasons ever, but it also raises questions about what the streaming service will do without such a successful series.
Season 4 was the most controversial season so far, but it paved the way for an exciting final chapter. Season 5 feels like the perfect place to end the series. Instead of continuing just because it’s popular and risking a disappointing conclusion, The Boys seems poised to finish strong, which is why fans are so eager to see what happens next.
Losing The Boys will be a significant loss for the streaming service, given how popular and long-running the show has been. However, there’s still some good news to focus on.
The Boys Has Been Prime Video’s Flagship Show Since 2019
Prime Video has hosted many popular shows over the last six years, but The Boys stands out as one of its very best. It’s been a key series for the platform since it debuted in 2019.
Adapting such a controversial and divisive comic was a gamble, considering its sensitive themes. However, the Prime Video series seems to have surpassed the original source material, becoming a highly valuable property for Amazon and opening doors for future projects.
Both Invincible and The Boys have thrived thanks to a growing appetite for superhero stories that break the mold. Invincible gained traction following The Boys‘ popularity, proving that unconventional superhero shows can find a large audience. And The Boys has successfully expanded its world with spin-offs introducing new characters not found in the original comics, boosting the franchise and providing more content for the streaming platform.
For many, The Boys has become synonymous with Prime Video, consistently featured in its promotions. While the show’s ending next year will be a big change, the groundwork laid by the series ensures a strong future for the streaming platform, so there’s no need to worry about finding a quick replacement.
Despite The Boys Concluding Next Year, The Franchise Isn’t Going Anywhere

As a big fan of The Boys, I was a little bummed to hear the main show is wrapping up in 2026. But it sounds like the world isn’t going anywhere just yet! They’re already developing more projects set in that universe, which is awesome. Yeah, the cancellation of Diabolical was a bit of a worry, but it seems like they’re just clearing the way for even bigger and better things. I’m definitely excited to see what comes next!
Fans are eagerly awaiting Vought Rising, the new series expanding the world of The Boys. The show will bring back popular characters like Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) and Stormfront (Aya Cash), and may also include Thomas Godolkin (Ethan Slater). With these established characters and a fresh cast, the spinoff promises to be exciting.
A spin-off called The Boys: Mexico is also in the works, and it will be interesting to see how superheroes function in a new country. Plus, a third season of Gen V is planned, and because the show has already been successful, it’s well-positioned to continue the story after the main Boys series ends.
This suggests the Boys universe will remain popular even after the main show finishes, which is great news for Prime Video. If Gen V continues, it also offers a way to keep characters who survived the fifth season involved in the larger story, confirming that this superhero series has a long future.
Prime Video Will Be Just Fine Without The Boys
Losing The Boys will be tough, but Prime Video is well-positioned to succeed without it. With several promising spinoffs in the works, the possibility of another season of Gen V, and a strong lineup of other shows, the platform should remain popular even after The Boys concludes.
I’ve been so impressed with the action shows Prime Video has been putting out! Honestly, Invincible, Reacher, and Mr. & Mrs. Smith feel like they could easily become the next big thing, maybe even take over for The Boys, if Prime really invests in them the way they did with that series. Plus, Fallout is a great option if you’re looking for action with a sci-fi twist, and Batman: Caped Crusader is a really cool, different take on the superhero genre.
Many current shows are already hits, and series like The Legend of Vox Machina, Hazbin Hotel, and the Bosch spin-offs demonstrate the vast selection available on Prime Video. This means the platform will remain strong even after The Boys concludes in 2026.
