It’s sad to see this four-year period coming to a close, but the circumstances surrounding its end are understandable, and almost make it okay.
So, it looks like the next update for Halo Infinite, called Operation Infinite, which is coming on November 18th, is going to be the last major one for the multiplayer. The team announced it on their blog, and honestly, it’s a little sad. They basically said thank you to all of us fans for sticking with the game for the last four years, and that without our feedback and passion, Halo Infinite wouldn’t have become the awesome place it is to play and battle as Spartans. It’s a really nice message, even if it means we won’t be getting a ton more updates!
We’re working on several new Halo games, and to make them great, we need everyone on the team focused and dedicated – just like our amazing community. While we’ll continue to support Halo Infinite, the upcoming ‘Operation: Infinite’ will be the last big content update we have planned. Launching November 18th, it includes a boost to Career Rank and SP, a 100-tier Operation Pass with eight new armor sets, fresh Ranked Seasons, and over 200 new customization options available in The Exchange.
Halo Infinite Originally Had A 10-Year Plan
So, 343 Industries made this game, Halo Infinite, for both PC and Xbox, and let me tell you, it was awesome! It’s the sixth main Halo game, and I got to play as Master Chief again, running around in this huge, action-packed, first-person shooter set in space. Seriously, it was a blast!
Halo Infinite stands out because it combines a large, explorable world with a traditional story campaign. Players are free to roam and discover things at their own pace, while still following a clear path to finish the game’s main story. The game received widespread praise and was nominated for numerous awards, winning nine in total, including Action Game of the Year and Online Game of the Year at the 2022 D.I.C.E. Awards.
Fans are eagerly awaiting the next Halo game. Expected to launch next year, Halo: Campaign Evolved will revisit the original story while also introducing exciting new elements to the Halo universe.
It was recently confirmed that Halo: Campaign Evolved won’t be exclusive to Xbox or PC. While there’s no firm release date yet, the developers at Halo Studios plan to launch the game on Windows PCs, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5 in 2026.
