In Season 5 of Ghosts, Abby Pinkus (Gideon Adlon) has really stepped up, making a big difference at Woodstone Mansion – and it wouldn’t have happened without her dad, Trevor Lefkowitz (Asher Grodman). Thanks to Sam (Rose McIver)’s gift for seeing ghosts, she’s helped them find peace. In Season 5, Episode 4, Sam and Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar) bring Abby on board at Mahesh so Trevor can spend more time with his daughter.
In Season 4 of Ghosts, Trevor recently discovered he has a daughter and is determined to be a good father. He offers to pay his daughter’s salary if Sam and Jay will hire her as a server. Abby is happy about the job opportunity but reluctant to strengthen her bond with Sam, who previously suggested Trevor was her biological father – a revelation that actually came from Lefkowitz. This storyline continues in Season 5, culminating in a surprising ending that opens up new possibilities for the show’s future.
Sam Reveals Her Ability To Trevor’s Daughter In Ghosts Season 5 Episode 4
The situation is complicated by the rocky start Sam and Jay had last season. After Trevor discovered he was Abby’s father and learned his friend, Adam, was going to tell her, Trevor tried to coordinate the reveal by texting from Sam’s phone. Unfortunately, the text was accidentally sent to Abby, making it look like Sam was interfering. Because of this, Abby has good reason to be wary of Sam and Jay, despite their attempts to help.
Sam initially keeps her powers secret from Abby, making excuses for her strange actions, like starting a new dating rule at work – all to help Trevor. Eventually, the only way to clear things up is for Sam to reveal her abilities. Abby is skeptical at first, but Trevor proves he’s truly there by moving his daughter’s large water bottle with his ghost powers, revealing Woodstone’s biggest secret to her.
Trevor Can Parent Abby Pinkus From The Afterlife
Now that Abby is aware of her father’s ghostly presence, he can truly act as her parent from beyond the grave. Trevor communicates with Abby through Sam, who translates his messages instantly. However, Trevor’s ghost powers allow him to do more than just talk – he can also directly affect the physical world. He’s used Sam and Jay’s tablet to contact people in the past, including catfishing Jay’s sister, Bela Patel, and his coworkers. He even applied for a remote finance job under the fake name Michael Jackson, using false qualifications.
Though people have occasionally connected with loved ones after death, Trevor is unique – he’s the first spirit able to actively parent his child and make a real difference in her life. He clearly wants to be involved, worrying about Abby’s struggles and figuring out how to help her, like suggesting a job at Mahesh. Because Trevor died young, many people still remember him and have a connection to him, which is unusual for a ghost at Woodstone.
Sam is delighted when Carol and her family visit Woodstone, and he’s especially happy to reconnect with his daughter, Laura. However, he keeps the truth – that he’s a ghost and she can see him – a secret. He even gets to walk his daughter down the aisle at her wedding, and she senses his presence, much like she does when he temporarily inhabits Jay during their Christmas visits. Despite all this, Carol and her husband haven’t told their son, Martino Jr., that his father has been watching over them as a ghost ever since he passed away on the property.
Thor recently learned about a son he never knew, a spirit who passed away on the neighboring property. Sadly, they only connected after both had died, meaning the father missed out on his son’s life. Now, like Pete, Trevor can watch important events in Abby’s life, and, similar to Thor, he can actually communicate with his daughter. This is a brand new development for the show, and it creates exciting possibilities for future storylines.
Abby Pinkus Just Became One Of The Most Important Characters In Ghosts
Abby Pinkus has quickly become a key character in the latest season, and it’s not just because of Trevor’s parenting. Aside from Trevor, Abby is now one of only four people alive who know Sam can see ghosts. Before, only Jay, Bela, and Bela’s ex-boyfriend, Eric, were aware of Sam’s ability. In Season 4, Pete meets Kyle, who can also see ghosts, and introduces him to Sam, making Kyle the fourth person in the know.
With Abby now aware of the ghosts at Woodstone, the show can fully involve her in their stories. Sam and Jay can share confidential information with her, and like Bela, she can assist them with ghost-related issues. This could include helping to cover up strange occurrences or explaining them to customers. Knowing Woodstone’s secret opens up exciting new storylines for Abby’s character.
With Abby Pinkus now aware of the ghosts at Woodstone Mansion and seemingly committed to staying, she’s poised to play a bigger role in the show’s supernatural storylines. Similar to Bela, Abby’s newfound knowledge will likely lead to more frequent appearances. As someone involved in the daily running of Woodstone, she’s quickly become a key character in Ghosts, and viewers can expect to see much more of her going forward.
