Millie Bobby Brown is one of the biggest stars around today. The British actress first became famous for her role as Eleven in the Netflix hit series Stranger Things and has consistently impressed audiences since then. She’s received two Emmy nominations and four nominations from the Screen Actors Guild thanks to her talent. Brown’s status as a major Hollywood star has also been confirmed by her work in the Enola Holmes movies and the Godzilla films.
While most people recognize Millie Bobby Brown from Stranger Things, she’s actually been in several other TV shows. Some of those roles were too brief to showcase her talent, and others weren’t particularly memorable. Regardless, it’s fantastic to see her achieve the success she deserves.
Here’s a ranking of every Millie Bobby Brown TV role where she plays a fictional character.

Ruby
‘Grey’s Anatomy’

ABC
Often hailed as one of the best medical dramas ever made – though fans of ER might debate that – Grey’s Anatomy follows the careers and personal relationships of the doctors, nurses, and patients at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital in Seattle. In a season 11 episode titled “I Feel the Earth Move,” Millie Bobby Brown appears as Ruby, an 11-year-old who calls the hospital when her mother collapses during an earthquake. Two doctors then help Ruby by walking her through essential first aid steps.
Acting Fast
The episode featuring “I Feel the Earth Move” is particularly moving, and the actress Brown delivers a strong performance, skillfully portraying a range of emotions – from initial panic when calling for help to calm competence while providing first aid, and finally, worry as she accompanies her mother to the hospital. Despite her talent, Brown’s storyline feels short and isn’t fully developed. The episode juggles many different plots, and unfortunately, this one gets overshadowed by the more dominant stories.

Lizzie
‘Modern Family’

ABC
The show Modern Family follows the lives of three interconnected families in the Los Angeles suburbs – a traditional couple, a blended family, and a gay couple – all connected through the family’s grandfather. In a season six episode called “Closet? You’ll Love It!,” two boys are promoting their business by handing out flyers on the street. While they’re trying to attract customers, a girl named Lizzie (played by Millie Bobby Brown) rides by on her bike. The boys attempt to talk to her, hoping to impress her, but she completely ignores them and cycles away.
Blink and You’ll Miss It
Millie Bobby Brown’s appearance in the episode was too short to make a real impression. When it originally aired, she wasn’t yet a well-known actress, and even though Stranger Things had been announced, its future success was still uncertain. In fact, many fans didn’t even realize she was in it until after she became famous. Brown herself has never discussed the role, leaving it a mystery how she ended up on one of the most popular sitcoms of the 2000s. Hopefully, she’ll appear in another comedy show in the future.

Rachel Barnes
‘NCIS’

CBS
As a longtime TV watcher, I’ve seen a lot of procedural dramas, and NCIS is definitely one of the most enduring. Basically, each episode follows the team at the Naval Criminal Investigative Service as they solve crimes involving people in the Navy and Marines. I remember one episode, “Parental Guidance Suggested” from season 12, that really grabbed me. It started with the death of a Navy officer’s wife, and things quickly turned suspicious when her daughter, Rachel Brown, became a person of interest. It was a classic NCIS case – lots of twists and turns!
Nothing Is as It Seems
Similar to her guest appearance on Grey’s Anatomy, Millie Bobby Brown’s role on NCIS was limited to one episode, but she was given a more substantial part. She really showcased her acting talent by initially playing a character who seemed unaware of the circumstances surrounding her mother’s death, before gradually revealing hidden truths. This performance demonstrated Brown’s ability to handle complex and emotionally demanding roles – a performance worthy of an Emmy if she’d been in a different type of show. Sadly, shows focused on crime and investigation are often overlooked by award voters.
3
Young Alice
‘Once Upon a Time in Wonderland’

ABC
Millie Bobby Brown started her acting career with a role in Once Upon a Time in Wonderland. This show is a continuation of Once Upon a Time, and follows Alice as she attempts to rescue her boyfriend, Cyrus, while facing off against characters like the Red Queen and Jafar. Brown portrayed a young Alice in the beginning of the series, when Alice returns to Victorian England from Wonderland and tries to convince people about the magical world she’s been to, but they don’t believe her.
Dark Time for Alice
Brown has often talked about her childhood love of fantasy, so landing a role in this show was likely a dream come true. Her performance is wonderfully genuine and innocent. The most painful scenes are when Alice’s concerns are ignored by the doctors and her family, who think she’s imagining things. It’s easy to connect with Alice’s struggles, because everyone has felt dismissed or not believed at some point. The show is consistently thrilling, even though it has some weaknesses. It starts a little slow with a lot of flashbacks, but once you get into the story and its pace, Once Upon a Time in Wonderland is consistently beautiful and captivating. Despite a few slow spots, it’s definitely one of the best high-budget fantasy shows we’ve seen in years.
2
Madison
‘Intruders’

BBC America
The series Intruders, based on Michael Marshall Smith’s novel, follows an LAPD detective as he uncovers a mysterious secret society called Qui Reverti while investigating his wife’s odd actions. This society achieves immortality by moving their consciousness into different bodies. Millie Bobby Brown stars as Madison O’Donnell, a nine-year-old girl from Washington State who is unexpectedly inhabited by the spirit of an assassin named Marcus Fox.
Most Terrifying Child Since Regna MacNeil?
If you want to see incredibly talented child actors, look no further. Brown delivers an amazing performance, making her character both frightening and sympathetic. The show skillfully blends reality and fantasy, blurring the lines between victim and aggressor. It’s a shame it was canceled after just one season, but perhaps it was for the best. Continuing with this show might have prevented Brown from becoming known for her role in Stranger Things.
1
Eleven
‘Stranger Things’

Netflix
Okay, let me tell you about Stranger Things. This show immediately throws you back to the 1980s in Hawkins, Indiana, when a young boy named Will Byers vanishes without a trace. While his friends desperately search for him, they stumble upon something truly bizarre – a girl named Eleven, played brilliantly by Millie Bobby Brown. She’s got incredible powers, but she’s also on the run from a shadowy government facility. As they investigate, they quickly realize this isn’t a simple missing person case. They uncover a secret world, a creepy parallel dimension called the Upside Down, and find themselves battling terrifying monsters, ruthless scientists, and some seriously bad people. It’s a wild ride!
Stranger Achievements
Millie Bobby Brown is a standout performer in Stranger Things, but the entire cast is fantastic. The show follows a group of kids dealing with dangerous enemies as they adjust to a strange new world. Anyone who tries to control them quickly learns they’ve made a mistake. The actors have already won a combined total of 39 awards, which is an amazing accomplishment, and we can likely expect even more recognition after the show’s fifth and final season.
