While it’s important to be aware of concerns about Steam’s dominance in the gaming market, we can’t ignore how Valve’s platform has made games more available and affordable. Steam isn’t just a store; it also helps developers grow their games through programs like Early Access, allowing many successful titles to be created. Despite this, a new soccer game called UFL, which aims to compete with major franchises like EA Sports FC and eFootball, won’t be released on Steam, even though it’s currently in Early Access on PC. This article will explore the reasons behind this decision and whether UFL will eventually become available on Valve’s platform.
UFL Early Access not available on Steam
Many players connect the term “Early Access” with Steam, where it’s used for testing unfinished games and supporting developers. However, it’s not exclusive to Steam. We’ve already seen the game UFL in Early Access on Xbox and PlayStation 5, platforms not connected to Steam. By deciding not to release the game on older consoles like PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, the developers can now concentrate on the PC version. The question remains: will they release it on Steam?
I was so excited to see that UFL’s PC Early Access is finally here! But it’s a little tricky – you can’t get it on Steam right now. If I want to play on my computer, I have to download the game directly from their website and pay at least 30 bucks. It’s worth remembering that the full game is planned to be free-to-play, so I think I’ll wait. That way, I’ll get it for free, and it sounds like it’ll probably show up on Steam eventually anyway. Makes sense, right?
The fact that UFL already has a page on Steam strongly suggests it will be released on that platform eventually. The game has also been tested with demos and alpha versions through Steam in the past. While there’s no confirmed release date yet, it seems likely to happen soon.
Early Access periods for games can vary greatly, sometimes lasting six months or even indefinitely. While we don’t anticipate UFL taking that long – the complete game is already available on consoles – bringing it to PC and making sure it runs well on all different computer setups takes time. We’re currently estimating a PC launch within 3 to 6 months, but this is just an approximate timeframe.
