After a few delays, the first trailer for the movie Michael is here, along with a release date! The trailer shows off some exciting moments from Michael Jackson’s career, but what really stood out is how much Jaafar Jackson, Michael’s nephew who plays him in the film, looks like his uncle. It’s uncanny!
Despite some initial legal issues with the ending, the new movie Michael seems poised to showcase the best moments of Jackson’s life and career. The trailer suggests it will explore his beginnings with the Jackson 5 and his incredible success as a global pop superstar.
Jaafar Jackson Looks Just Like Michael Jackson
What really stood out to me in the footage was Jaafar Jackson, Michael Jackson’s nephew. I appreciate that the filmmakers chose a realistic approach, similar to Straight Outta Compton. The actor’s resemblance to his uncle is incredibly strong – it’s as impressive as O’Shea Jackson Jr.’s portrayal of Ice Cube. This movie absolutely needed an actor who physically resembled Michael Jackson; a poor casting choice would have been a major problem, especially with how much social media buzz can impact a film before it’s even released.
Is The Scope Of The Movie Too Ambitious?
TopMob viewed early footage of the Michael Jackson biopic at CinemaCon, and a potential issue surfaced that was also present with the film Bohemian Rhapsody. It seems the filmmakers are trying to cover Jackson’s entire life and career in one movie, which, considering his decades of fame, could be a very difficult undertaking.
More On Michael Jackson

Ever wondered why Super Bowl halftime shows are so amazing these days? It turns out we have Michael Jackson to thank! He really set the standard for what these performances could be.
The film focuses on the main events of Jackson’s career, but it’s unclear how it will handle the more controversial parts of his life. One significant element – the accusations made by 13-year-old Jordan Chandler – was ultimately cut from the third act because of a legal agreement with the family, preventing the story from being dramatized.
Paris Jackson, Michael Jackson’s daughter, also shared that she stepped away from the film back in September. She explained that she gave feedback on parts of the script she disagreed with, but her concerns weren’t addressed, leading her to disassociate from the project. Despite this, she believes the movie will likely appeal to Michael Jackson’s devoted fans, who still cherish a romanticized view of his life and career. It’s a fascinating point, and it actually makes me more curious to see the film and understand her perspective.
I’m really excited to see the movie Michael when it comes out in theaters on April 24th. The trailer makes it seem great, and I’m curious to see if the full film lives up to expectations and reminds everyone how much they love the late singer’s music.
