Though Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon currently work together on the Apple TV+ show The Morning Show – with Season 4 expected in 2025 – their connection goes back to 2000. Witherspoon played Rachel’s sister, Jill, on an episode of Friends. Even though their characters didn’t become close friends on the show, Witherspoon publicly defended Aniston against unfair criticism, showing a real sisterly bond.
Reese Witherspoon recently praised Jennifer Aniston during an appearance on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast, describing her as a genuinely kind, warm, and supportive friend. However, Witherspoon also mentioned that the way the media often portrays Aniston has made her cautious, and that bothers Witherspoon a lot. She explained:
I got emotional during one of our conversations because it bothers me when people unfairly judge her based on assumptions. The image people have of her isn’t accurate; she’s moved on from the past and isn’t stuck on old issues.
Common misunderstandings about Jennifer Aniston involve her choices about having children, her decision to skip the Met Gala, and the reasons behind her divorces from Brad Pitt and Justin Theroux. Dax Shepard pointed out that Aniston doesn’t dwell on the past, even when it comes to her relationship with Brad Pitt, whom she hasn’t looked back on with longing for two decades after their split.
Reese Witherspoon agreed:
She’s doing really well. A wonderful thing happened at her 50th birthday – people from all stages of her life came to celebrate with her, including old friends from high school and college, current and former partners, and even people who work for her. It really showed what a genuinely good and kind person she is.
It’s clear Jennifer Aniston remains down-to-earth, still spending time with her childhood friends despite her fame. It’s also pretty remarkable that she’s able to maintain a friendly relationship with her ex-husband – not many people could invite an ex to their birthday!
Jennifer Aniston is known for remaining friendly with her former partners. For example, Justin Theroux still celebrates her birthday each year, and her reunion with Brad Pitt for a virtual reading of Fast Times at Ridgemont High during the pandemic caused a huge buzz online.
Reese Witherspoon quickly dismissed rumors about her co-star, Jennifer Aniston, but Aniston herself hasn’t felt the need to address most of the untrue stories spread about her. She says she’ll always be bothered by the idea that people feel entitled to know details about her personal life.
So, she’s finally gone public with Jim Curtis, which is great! But knowing her, I doubt we’ll get a full tell-all about their relationship. Honestly, I think her followers will be happy enough with the cute little glimpses she shares on Instagram – it feels like that’s the level of access we’re going to get, and I’m okay with that.
You can still watch Jennifer Aniston in Season 4 of The Morning Show, with new episodes released every Wednesday on Apple TV+. Plus, all ten seasons of Friends are available to stream on Max.
