100 Nights of Hero Has a Story, or 100, to Tell

Okay, seriously, someone finally got it! Forget everything you think you know about those old stories – this new movie, 100 Nights of Hero, is about to make folklore seriously cool. It’s based on this amazing graphic novel, and the premise is wild. Basically, this bride named Cherry, played by Maika Monroe, gets left with this ridiculously handsome guy, Manfred (Nicholas Galitzine!), while her husband is off… well, making a bet. He’s bet Manfred that he can seduce Cherry in 100 nights, and the whole estate is on the line! Luckily, Cherry has a maid named Hero (Emma Corrin) who’s got her back, and she keeps Cherry entertained – and safe – by telling her stories every night, inspired by One Thousand and One Nights. The trailer is stunning, and Hero literally says, “Anytime that you need rescuing, I’ll tell a story.” Plus, the cast is incredible – we’re talking Richard E. Grant, Felicity Jones, and even Charli XCX popping up in Hero’s stories! I’m already obsessed.

As a total movie buff, what really grabbed me about this trailer was the playful rivalry for the leading lady’s attention. You’ve got both guys, Hero and Manfred, clearly vying for Cherry, and they’re constantly trying to impress her more than the other. There’s this great moment where Manfred smoothly offers to get Cherry a drink – “I hoped we could have a drink” – but Hero immediately jumps in with “I’d love a drink!” It’s just brilliant, and then when Manfred points out there are only two glasses, Hero one-ups him by pulling out a flask! It’s that kind of witty competition that just makes you root for… well, both of them, honestly.
