A little-known film by Francis Ford Coppola will soon be available to watch online for free. Coppola was a key figure in a new generation of filmmakers who rose to prominence in the 1960s and 70s. While he’s famous for The Godfather movies, he also directed a standalone film starring a group of talented young actors who later became major stars.
As a movie lover, I’m excited to share that Francis Ford Coppola’s classic, The Outsiders, is coming to Tubi on November 1st! Tubi is a totally free streaming service – you just have to watch a few ads. It’s a great way to revisit this film, especially since it launched the careers of so many stars we know and love – Tom Cruise, Matt Dillon, Ralph Macchio, Patrick Swayze, Diane Lane, and so many more! Tubi is adding a bunch of good movies in November, so it’s worth checking out if you’re looking for something to watch without paying a subscription.
The Outsiders Features Hollywood’s Biggest Stars of the ’80s and ’90s
Looking back at the movie The Outsiders, it’s amazing how many famous actors were in it! The film features a lot of performers who later became well-known stars. The Outsiders is based on the popular novel of the same name, written by S.E. Hinton.
The film centers around two opposing teenage gangs, the Socs and the Greasers. It tells the story of Darrel “Darry” Curtis (Patrick Swayze) who becomes the guardian of his younger brothers, Ponyboy (C. Thomas Howell) and Sodapop (Rob Lowe), after their parents tragically die in a car accident.
I’m part of a group called the Greasers, and we’re all friends. Along with Johnny, played by Ralph Macchio, there’s Dally Winston, who Matt Dillon brought to life, Two-Bit, played by Emilio Estevez, and Steve Randle, portrayed by Tom Cruise. We all stick together.
I always loved The Outsiders, but it’s amazing to think about all the huge careers that got their start in that movie! Patrick Swayze went on to do Dirty Dancing, Ralph Macchio became Daniel in The Karate Kid, Emilio Estevez was in The Breakfast Club and Young Guns, and even Tom Cruise was in Top Gun! It’s incredible – you could even make a case that Tom Cruise has had the biggest career of anyone who was in The Outsiders, and that’s saying something when you look at all the other talented actors who were in it with him.
Other Movies Heading to Tubi on November 2025
Starting November 1st, Tubi will add popular movies like The Outsiders, Gladiator, Titanic, Casino, Space Jam, Good Morning, Vietnam, Friday, G.I. Jane, and a wide variety of other favorites.
As a film buff, I’m excited to see Tubi adding some great geeky content! They’re getting two Shazam! movies – the 2019 original and the 2023 sequel, Fury of the Gods – plus the 2008 Marvel film Punisher: War Zone. And for those of us who grew up with toys, they’ve got the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, as well as both G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and G.I. Joe: Retaliation! It’s a fun mix of action and nostalgia.
