It’s no surprise that Pokémon remains incredibly popular. Just look at the sales for Pokémon Legends: Z-A: it’s already sold 5.8 million copies after just one week! The Pokémon Company announced these numbers, and shared that about half of those sales were for the special Switch 2 Edition.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A sales figures include both physical and digital copies. While the Switch 2 bundle featuring the game is helping sales, the original Switch continues to sell much better overall – it has sold 153 million units compared to 6 million for the Switch 2.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A is the second installment in the Pokémon Legends series. While the first game, Pokémon Legends: Arceus, had a very strong launch in early 2022, selling 6.5 million copies in its first week and setting a new record for Pokémon game debuts, it was later surpassed by Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, which sold 10 million copies in just three days. These successful releases have contributed to the Pokémon franchise selling nearly half a billion copies overall.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A was released on October 16th for both the Nintendo Switch and the new Switch 2. Unlike previous ‘Legends’ games, this one continues the story of Pokemon X and Y. Players can also look forward to downloadable content called Mega Dimension, which will be available for purchase.
