Marvel Studios has announced they will be attending San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) 2025, with the intention of showcasing their upcoming blockbuster movie. Unfortunately, fans were let down when they heard that Marvel won’t hold its usual Saturday Hall H panel at SDCC this year, as the absence seems logical considering the lack of MCU releases for the rest of 2021. Regardless, Marvel is still expected to participate in the comic convention, and there may be some exciting surprises on the horizon.
As I strolled through San Diego’s vibrant Gaslamp Quarter, my movie-critic eyes were drawn to intriguing posters confirming the presence of Marvel Studios’ upcoming blockbuster, “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. Peeking around the city, I spotted banners showcasing these enticing images, signaling that the highly anticipated film will undoubtedly be a focal point at the convention. Furthermore, other intriguing titles from Disney Studios have made their appearance as well, such as “Tron: Ares” and “Predator: Badlands,” hinting at their potential involvement in the event.
The film ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ is one of only a few Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movies to be showcased at several Comic-Cons, including its appearance at Marvel Studios’ Hall H panel in 2024. Given that the movie will debut in cinemas during the same weekend as San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC), it seems logical for Marvel to continue promoting ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ at SDCC for another year.
In 2024, Marvel Studios found themselves in a similar predicament as when Deadpool & Wolverine premiered on Comic-Con Friday. The third Deadpool film had its promotional debut at SDCC with a special fan screening and the presence of the cast, while also being mentioned during Marvel’s Hall H event.
Although Hall H panel is absent this year, the Marvel Cinematic Universe will still be featured throughout the four-day San Diego Comic-Con, which takes place from July 24th to the 27th. Interestingly, the first Phase 6 release of the MCU, titled “The Fantastic Four: First Steps“, is set to debut in cinemas on July 25th.
What Does Marvel Have In Store For The Fantastic Four at Comic-Con?
Although these signs indicate that “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” will be featured at Comic-Con, it’s still undecided how grandly Marvel Studios intends to present their upcoming blockbuster.
When The Hollywood Reporter announced that Marvel wouldn’t hold a panel in Hall H, it was made clear that they would still be present at the convention, offering multiple panels dedicated to comics, video games, and some updates from Marvel Animation.
According to reports from The Outlet’s sources, Marvel is planning a unique and interactive “reimagined booth” for The Fantastic Four at the show. In previous years, Marvel’s booths have offered exclusive merchandise or featured displays of costumes and props related to their latest releases. This year, the Fantastic Four booth seems set to offer an exceptional experience.
It’s likely that Marvel Studios has some exciting secrets up its sleeve for the audience, fueling rumors about another fan event in 2025 potentially showcasing “The Fantastic Four: First Steps”. However, it remains to be seen if the cast will join us as they have in the past, considering all four members of The Fantastic Four are currently involved in filming for “Avengers: Doomsday”.
Despite the triumph of the “Deadpool & Wolverine” approach in the previous year, showcasing a screening could be an effortless method for Marvel Studios to generate interest at the convention, bypassing their typical grandiose Hall H presentation.
