Donkey Kong Bananza Switch 2 Preorders Are Live At Amazon

Fans of Donkey Kong won’t have to wait much longer; the first 3D adventure in the series since 1999’s Donkey Kong 64 will be available for play, but you’ll need a Nintendo Switch 2. The game, titled Donkey Kong Bananza, is set to debut exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2 on July 17th. Among the numerous Switch 2 games now available for preorder at retailers like Amazon, Donkey Kong Bananza stands out as one of the most visually impressive from a technical perspective. This is a significant development since Amazon has only recently started selling Nintendo games and hardware again after more than a year without them.

Despite Nintendo pricing certain Switch 2 games at $80, such as its flagship debut title, Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong’s initial original game in over a decade costs $70.

As I watched the Bananza reveal trailer, it felt like they were giving me a sneak peek into my next gaming adventure. What caught my eye was the game’s exhilarating traversal system and Donkey Kong’s incredible strength on display. I’ve always known DK to be powerful, but whoa! His fists can shatter terrain into pieces of rock, carve tunnels, and lift boulders overhead before smashing them onto my enemies. It seems like this game is all about destruction. The levels in Bananza look like massive playgrounds designed just for Donkey Kong to swing, roll, run, and smash his way through. Even though it’s set underground, there will be various themes to explore, from forested areas and water environments to canyons and mines.

On June 18th, I’m thrilled to share that Nintendo is inviting me and fellow fans for a special Donkey Kong Blastoff Direct livestream! This event promises a closer look at the intriguing details of Donkey Kong’s upcoming adventure. The storyline revolves around a nefarious crew known as VoidCo, who have swiped golden bananas from our beloved DK and his pals. In response, Donkey Kong forms an alliance with an “Odd Rock,” a mysterious ally that empowers him to transform his fists into supercharged wrecking balls!

If you’re excited about Bananza and haven’t yet tried the upgraded versions of Tropical Freeze and DKC Returns on Switch, you can currently get a great deal on these two fantastic side-scrollers for a limited period. Donkey Kong Country Returns HD, which came out earlier this year, is selling at Woot for $40 and Amazon for $45. On the other hand, Tropical Freeze is available at Woot for $42 and Walmart for $45.

It’s worth noting that Donkey Kong Bananza wasn’t available for preorder at Amazon until after the launch of the Switch 2 console. However, there are other new and upcoming Nintendo games now available for purchase at Amazon, such as Super Mario Party Jamboree + Jamboree TV and Kirby and the Forgotten Land + Star-Crossed World. The Switch 2 version of Mario Party Jamboree will be released a week after Donkey Kong Bananza, while Kirby and the Forgotten Land is set for release on August 28.

The Donkey Kong’s Tree House is one of only two Lego sets that include a buildable figure of Donkey Kong.

Another Lego Mario figure set featuring Donkey Kong can be found in the 387-piece Super-Sized Donkey Kong (DK Jumbo) set. This set was part of the initial release of the Lego Mario Kart collection earlier this year. At present, you can purchase it for $29.49 (originally priced at $35).

All of the Donkey Kong Lego sets interact with the Lego Super Mario Adventures starter sets.
