Fresh details about Honkai: Star Rail’s Version 3.4 update have surfaced, offering a comprehensive look at the abilities of the upcoming character, Phainon. These leaks corroborate earlier speculations that Phainon will serve as a high-damage DPS in multiple team compositions. As previously hinted through social media marketing, HoYoverse has confirmed that Phainon is indeed one of the new playable characters set to debut with Version 3.4. Since beta testing for this version hasn’t begun yet, information about the patch remains limited, but there have been whispers regarding Phainon’s Ultimate skill in Honkai: Star Rail 3.4.
In the upcoming version 3.4, Phainon isn’t the only exciting development; it will also feature a collaboration event with “Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works”. During this update, players will have the opportunity to acquire Saber and Archer, who will be integrated into the turn-based RPG format. For a limited time, one Archer character will be provided free of charge. At present, specific details about the “Fate” characters in “Honkai: Star Rail” are scant, but further information is expected to emerge in the coming weeks.
Phainon’s Complete Kit In Honkai: Star Rail 3.4 May Have Leaked
Aside From Stats, All Details About The Physical Character Have Been Revealed
Despite the beta tests offering further clarification, particularly on aspects like stats, scaling, and names, it appears that details about Phainon’s comprehensive gameplay kit from Version 3.4 have already been exposed, unveiling specifics about his passive Traces, skills, exclusive Ultimate functionalities, and varying Eidolon levels. This information, claimed to be sourced by the leaker called Shiroha, was disseminated in a Reddit post labeled as “Trustworthy”. The leak might not provide exact damage figures, but it does offer some understanding of his functionality and potential impacts on Phainon’s territory within Honkai: Star Rail.
The main leaks about Phainon’s gameplay have mostly focused on his Ultimate ability, with whispers of an unconventional Energy system being mentioned frequently. A new leak appears to support these rumors, but it seems that Energy is still a part of his abilities, just in a different form. Speculation about Phainon’s territory has been buzzing, and now there’s a clearer understanding of how he functions within this unique zone. Furthermore, the details from his Traces offer some hints about the optimal team compositions for Phainon upon release, suggesting that certain characters, such as Castorice in Honkai: Star Rail, might not work well with him.
Phainon’s Leaked Kit In Honkai: Star Rail 3.4 Explained
The Character’s Main Source Of Damage May Be His Ultimate, Which Allegedly Sees Him Transform
Based on the information from the leak, Phainon’s gameplay focuses on accumulating Memory points. His standard attack inflicts Physical Damage proportionate to his Attack stat on a single target, awarding him one Memory point. With his leaked skill, Phainon attacks both the designated target and adjacent targets (the damage values differ between these two groups), earning him two Memory points. Additionally, if an ally uses their ability to boost Phainon or grant him a buff, he receives one Memory point. Similarly, being hit by an enemy yields one Memory point for Phainon.
According to the recent information disclosure, a maximum of 15 Memory points can accumulate. When gaining Memory points, Phainon’s Critical Damage Multiplier boosts for two consecutive turns. Additionally, when Phainon amasses 12 Memory points, he can trigger his Ultimate ability. Previous rumors and the latest leak suggest that Phainon’s Ultimate skill establishes a unique area similar to Castorice’s Lost Territory, known as The Chronosruin Irontomb. Furthermore, it appears that Phainon undergoes a transformation, possibly revealing his true form in Honkai: Star Rail, as previously hinted at by leaks from months ago.
In his transformed condition, it’s said that Phainon becomes resistant to crowd control penalties, boosts both his attack and maximum health, and reduces the damage he takes. Furthermore, every combat skill he uses also reduces an additional Toughness of his own type, and any self-applied buffs last an extra turn. While in this state, Phainon cannot accumulate Memory points. When this territory appears, all other allies are removed from the battlefield. Additionally, within this Ultimate-triggered territory, enemies in the territory develop a Physical Weakness. In this Ultimate-driven area, Phainon gains eight additional turns inserted into the sequence of actions. (In Honkai: Star Rail)
During Phainon’s transformation and when his territory is active, it appears that he acquires new capabilities. His Enhanced Basic Attack allows him to inflict Physical Damage on a chosen target and nearby enemies simultaneously, while also earning two Ruin marks. These marks serve as an alternative to Skill Points, with Phainon able to hold up to six of them at a time.
Moreover, with his first Enhanced Skill, Phainon compels enemies to act and accumulates Ruin marks depending on the number of adversaries. This skill also revitalizes his HP, eliminates all detrimental effects, and provides him with Counter until his next special turn.
Star Rail. Lastly, when Phainon departs the territory or enters a special state, he activates an enhanced ultimate ability. This can occur either after eight turns have passed or when Phainon’s HP drops below a specific threshold.
In summary, Phainon’s departure from the Ultimate battlefield causes physical damage to all opponents, splitting the harm among them. However, if his HP is low, exiting the battlefield reduces the power of his Enhanced Ultimate’s damage multiplier. When his transformation ends and he leaves the territory, all his allies reappear on the field, and for a single turn, their speed is amplified. A crucial detail to remember from the leak is that the time between special turns during the Ultimate remains constant, and most importantly, neither buffs nor debuffs diminish during special turns.
This suggests that my initial theories were correct regarding Wavestrider Captain’s suitability for the new Relic set in Honkai: Star Rail version 3.3. The four-piece bonus works such that when he is targeted by an ally’s ability, he gains a Help stack, up to twice. If two stacks are present during Ultimate use, they are consumed, and his attack power increases by 48% for one turn. Remarkably, if regular turns don’t elapse within the territory’s duration, this 48% attack boost could persist across all eight of Phainon’s leaked special turns.
Star Rail, he accumulates a Memory point. This effect can be triggered once per turn and resets at the start of his own turn.
Rumors About Phainon’s Hypercarry Status In Honkai: Star Rail Are Confirmed With New Leaks
Supports & Sustains Will Push Phainon Forward In Battle
Phainon’s leaked equipment is quite impressive, particularly his Ultimate ability. However, his passive Traces suggest that he is a hypercarry DPS character with specific needs. To maximize his damage output, Phainon will benefit from a character who can provide sustain, whether a healer or a shielder, to activate his damage increase. Additionally, supports that regenerate Energy for him will help stack his Memory and speed up the availability of his Ultimate, even though he does not directly use Energy. A character like Sunday in Honkai: Star Rail, who regenerates Energy and boosts allies, could be ideal for Phainon.
As a gamer, it’s clear that Phainon is about to get stronger with a boost in Memory points. With the latest leaks, it appears that the buzz surrounding his abilities, from his secondary form to his physical DPS and territory, has been spot on. Frankly, I think this upcoming release could shake up the roster significantly and make Phainon one of the standout characters of 2023 in Honkai: Star Rail, especially considering some other game-changing characters that have already dropped this year.
