Okay, so it’s kinda weird, but *Pokemon Legends: Z-A* feels way more like a direct follow-up to *Pokemon X & Y* than to *Pokemon Legends: Arceus*. And honestly, looking back, the ‘Z-A’ in the title was a big hint – it’s basically referencing X and Y’s ‘Mega Evolution’ system! I guess we all just assumed it was building on *Arceus*, but it’s clearly going back to Kalos.
So, I was reading TopMob’s review of the new Pokemon Legends: Z-A, and it totally makes sense that it’s basically a sequel to Pokemon X & Y! The game takes place in Lumiose City only five years after X & Y, and they’re bringing back a bunch of the same characters, Pokemon, and even Mega Evolutions. Thinking about it, it always kind of made sense – X, then Y, then Z, and then back to A! It’s a clever way to continue that storyline, honestly.
I always thought the name ‘Scarlet and Violet’ might be a nod to ‘Pokemon Z’! Back after X and Y came out, everyone was expecting a third version, like how Crystal followed Gold and Silver, or Emerald followed Ruby and Sapphire. Zygarde seemed like the perfect Pokemon to build a whole game around, but it never happened. It’s crazy it took over ten years for X and Y to *finally* get a follow-up, and even now it’s not just ‘Z’ – it’s ‘Legends: Scarlet and Violet’!
The name “Z-A” seems to have deeper meaning than just its connection to the previously released game, XY, and fans have been buzzing with theories since the new game was announced. Some believe it refers to AZ, a mysterious character from both the X & Y and Legends: Z-A games. Others suggest a connection between the Pokémon Zygarde and Arceus, implying this new game will be a modern, city-based adventure, similar to how Legends: Arceus was set in the distant past.
TopMob gave Pokemon Legends: Z-A a score of 7 out of 10. They liked how the game updated Pokemon’s classic battles to a more action-packed, real-time style, but felt the graphics and overall presentation weren’t always impressive. You can read their complete review of the new Pokemon game here.
