Filming is underway for the third season of *Percy Jackson and the Olympians*, which will adapt *The Titan’s Curse*, the third book in Rick Riordan’s popular fantasy series. The main cast is returning, and several new actors are joining them, including *Saturday Night Live*’s Kate McKinnon. McKinnon will play Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love, beauty, and desire, in a recurring role. She’s expected to be a playful and interfering matchmaker, though fans will have to wait to see how her character impacts the relationships in the show’s next season.
As reported by *Variety*, the goddess Aphrodite in the upcoming series can change how she looks to different people. She’ll only help Percy Jackson (Walker Scobell) on his journey if he shows her he understands the value of love. Beyond that, Aphrodite will play a key role in developing the romance between Percy (Walker Scobell) and Annabeth (Leah Sava Jeffries) and will guide Percy through the obstacles he faces, making her a significant character in the story.
Kate McKinnon is a talented actress known for playing a wide range of characters and making audiences laugh. She became famous during her time on Saturday Night Live and has since appeared in many popular movies and TV shows, such as Bombshell, The Spy Who Dumped Me, and Ghostbusters. Most recently, she starred in the hit film Barbie with Margot Robbie, but now she’s moving on to a new role, promising another unforgettable performance.
Percy Jackson’s Story Is Far From Over
Warner Bros. Pictures
Kate McKinnon’s debut as Aphrodite in *Percy Jackson and the Olympians* will have to wait until December 10, 2025. The second season, based on *The Sea of Monsters*, won’t be available on Disney+ for almost two years after the first season, which covered *The Lightning Thief*. Although the show has been renewed for a third season, a release date hasn’t been announced yet. The new episodes will follow the characters on a dangerous sea voyage to rescue Grover and protect Camp Half-Blood.
As a huge fan of mythology and adventure, I was immediately hooked by the story of Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters. It all kicks off when someone manages to get past the defenses of Camp Half-Blood, and Percy has to go on this incredible quest to find his friend Grover. He’s searching for the Golden Fleece, because it’s the only thing that might be able to protect the camp. Along the way, he teams up with Annabeth, Clarisse, and, surprisingly, his half-brother Tyson, who happens to be a cyclops! It’s a race against time, because they need to stop Luke and the powerful Titan Kronos from destroying Camp Half-Blood – and eventually, taking over Olympus itself. It’s a wild ride!
As a huge fan of the *Percy Jackson* series, I’m so excited about what’s coming! Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, and Aryan Simhadri are all returning as Percy, Annabeth, and Grover for season two, along with Daniel Diemer as Tyson, Dior Goodjohn as Clarisse, and Charlie Bushnell as Luke. But get this – season three is going to be even bigger! They’ve added Saara Chaudry as Zoë Nightshade, Olive Abercrombie as Bianca Di Angelo, and Levi Chrisopulos as Nico Di Angelo. And the best part? Someone we already love from the Marvel Cinematic Universe is joining the cast to play Artemis! I can’t wait to see it all unfold.
If the new seasons of *Percy Jackson and the Olympians* are as popular as the first – which critics liked and viewers loved – there’s a good chance the show will continue, adapting the remaining two books, *The Battle of the Labyrinth* and *The Last Olympian*. Author Rick Riordan has said he’s hopeful the series will get five seasons and a complete ending, but future seasons depend on how well the show performs. So, keep watching!
