He recently filmed a campaign commercial for Zohran Mamdani‘s mayoral bid, where he appears as Mr. Russell. In the ad, while dressed as the oil baron, he reads an August 30th New York Times article about the Hamptons elite fearing Mamdani after his primary victory over Andrew Cuomo. These wealthy individuals are hosting exclusive pro-Cuomo dinners while Mamdani gains support by simply stating, “I don’t think we should have billionaires.” From George Russell’s mouth, these words echo the sentiments of the 1880s robber barons.
