Naval warfare appears to be in development for Battlefield 6, according to datamined files.
Players have long asked for more water combat in the Battlefield series, and it’s been a noticeable missing feature in the latest installment. However, that might soon be addressed.
On October 6th, the developers hinted at upcoming content, mentioning they’ve heard player requests for features like naval battles and the return of a popular small helicopter, as well as the addition of platoons and other desired elements.
It appears the developers are not only paying attention to player feedback, but have also been diligently working on adding naval combat to Battlefield 6, and we’re starting to get a clear picture of what it will be like.
Battlefield 6 naval vehicles leaked
Insider-Gaming reports that code found in the game’s multiplayer files suggests several new vehicles designed for use in water will be added.
The files mention Jet Skis and RHIBs (Rigid-Hulled Inflatable Boats), hinting that these vehicles might be included in a future update.
We don’t know yet when naval battles might come back to Battlefield, but players have been asking for them for a long time. If added, they could have their own dedicated season with maps designed for fighting on the water. And, of course, the new battle royale mode is also on the way.
Current game maps don’t have much water, so adding more areas suitable for naval battles would be important if we introduce ships or other watercraft.
It’s also possible that the next Battlefield game won’t have the extensive naval combat of older titles, even if it still includes vehicles and maps featuring water.
Battlefield 6 is receiving positive attention for its efforts to combat cheating. The game recently banned players using Cronus Zen devices to gain an unfair advantage with aim assist, which has caused sellers of these cheating devices to react quickly.
Currently, Battlefield dominates the first-person shooter genre, but the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 could challenge that. If the new Call of Duty includes strong naval combat, it might be what decides whether the next Battlefield game succeeds or fails.
