Interspecies Teen Romance ‘With You, Our Love Will Make It Through’ Gets Anime Treatment

I’m thrilled to share that my favorite Japanese entertainment company, Remow, has given the go-ahead for a TV anime adaptation of the beloved manga series “With You, Our Love Will Make It Through” (also known as “Kimi To Koete Koi Ni Naru” or “KIMIKOE”). This heartwarming story is set to debut on our screens this fall!

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but express my admiration for this remarkable series, which originated from a beloved shojo manga – a unique and captivating category of Japanese comics predominantly tailored for teenage girls, revolving around themes of romance and deep emotional connections. By December 2024, an impressive 1.2 million copies were in circulation, while garnering a staggering 53 million page views on the popular manga app for girls, Manga Mee.

The narrative unfolds an extraordinary interspecies romance between a high school student and a transfer student hailing from the realm of beastfolk, introducing a supernatural twist to the classic high school romance tale – a signature trait of the shojo genre that never fails to enchant its readers.

Since May 2019, Chihiro Yuzuki’s original manga has been published on Shueisha’s Manga Plus platform. Translations in English have been provided by Yen Press. So far, a total of seven volumes have been released, and the next one, volume eight, is set to come out on January 23rd.

At the helm are Manaka Iwami as the protagonist Asaka Mari and Takuya Eguchi portraying Hidaka Tsunagu, the beastfolk character. Iwami expressed her intrigue: “Upon reading the initial story, I found captivating the concept of a romance between a beastfolk and a human. The character I’m voicing, Mari, is a sincere and straightforward girl. The dynamics between them, as well as the other characters, are undeniably intriguing.

Eguchi mentioned: “In this story’s perspective, being a beastfolk character can be challenging. I aimed to convey the diverse feelings experienced by the beastfolk named Tsunagu.

Yuzuki expressed his gratitude to those who backed him, stating that their support allowed them to create an anime series at last. He was overjoyed about it, adding that the story of ‘KIMIKOE’ has now come alive with voices and actions, and production is still ongoing as he speaks.

Back in 2021, I became part of an exciting venture called Remow, which saw the light of day with Shueisha as one of its significant investors. Further down the line, we’ll unveil the specifics about where this series will be streamed globally. Stay tuned!
