As someone who has spent countless hours battling through the Void in Honkai: Star Rail, I can confidently say that the choice of light cone for Fugue is not one to be taken lightly. With my years of experience in the game, I’ve seen firsthand how a well-chosen light cone can make or break a character’s effectiveness.

As a passionate fan of Honkai Star Rail, I’m thrilled to see Tingyun, one of the beloved characters since its debut, stepping into the playable roster as a 5-star Nihility character named Fugue. This transformation seems reminiscent of Dan Heng becoming Imbibitor Lunae or the forthcoming alternate version of Herta. Unlike before, Fugue has altered her path and element, but she continues to maintain a support role, albeit one that synergizes better with Break DMG-oriented teams featuring characters like Firefly, Rappa, or Boothill. This change significantly modifies her build compared to other Fire Nihility units such as Jiaoqiu or Guinaifen, who each occupy unique roles within team compositions.

In the case of this character, you can see a similar divergence in her light cone possibilities. Fugue has a distinct, though somewhat restricted, set of options. However, luckily for players, there are some free-to-play (F2P) choices that suit her requirements quite well. Consequently, it’s possible to develop her efficiently without heavily relying on her signature light cone in Honkai: Star Rail.

5. Before the Tutorial Mission Starts

HP ATK DEF
952 476 330
S5 Passive
Increases the wearer’s Effect Hit Rate by 40%. When the wearer attacks enemies that have reduced DEF, regenerates 8 Energy.

In simpler terms, Fugue’s Effect Hit Rate isn’t as crucial compared to other characters, but keeping it around 60-70% is beneficial for tackling tough opponents consistently. For free-to-play players, choosing ‘Before the Tutorial Mission Starts‘ is a great option if you’re not keen on heavily investing in Fugue, and it also eliminates the requirement of having an Effect Hit Rate main stat body relic.

Given a satisfactory Hit Rate Efficiency, Fugue can reliably decrease Defense and produce energy autonomously. It’s important to note though, that the light cone doesn’t offer any extra team benefits, making it less preferable compared to other choices on this list.

4. Fermata

HP ATK DEF
952 476 330
S5 Passive
Increases the wearer’s Break Effect by 32%, and increases their DMG to enemies afflicted with Shock or Wind Shear by 32%. This also applies to DoT.

A more favorable Free-to-Play (F2P) alternative for Fugue could be Fermata, given that it includes the Break Effect stat, which Fugue requires at approximately 220% or higher to reach her full support potential. Utilizing Fermata lessens the emphasis on achieving this benchmark through relic sub-stats. Regrettably, the latter part of Fermata’s effect is not advantageous for Fugue since she doesn’t usually collaborate with characters that inflict Debuffs Over Time (DoT), such as Kafka or Black Swan. Instead, her strength lies in teams consisting primarily of Hypercarry units, where her role is optimized by boosting Break Damage rather than focusing on DoT teamwork.

3. Solitary Healing

HP ATK DEF
1058 529 396
S5 Passive
Increases the wearer’s Break Effect by 40%. When the wearer uses their Ultimate, increases DoT dealt by the wearer by 48%, lasting for 2 turn(s). When a target enemy suffering from DoT imposed by the wearer is defeated, regenerates 6.0 Energy for the wearer.

From a fan’s perspective, I find that Solitary Healing shares similar potency in damage output with Resolution Shines As Pearls of Sweat, especially considering its increased Break Effect. However, it fails to offer direct team damage benefits, making it less favorable than Resolution Shines As Pearls of Sweat (S5) in Hypercarry team setups. Nevertheless, for those on a Free-to-Play journey, Solitary Healing remains a valuable pick due to its high stats as a 5-star light cone, making it an excellent stat stick.

2. Resolution Shines As Pearls of Sweat

HP ATK DEF
952 476 330
S5 Passive
When the wearer hits an enemy and if the hit enemy is not already Ensnared, then there is a 100% base chance to Ensnare the hit enemy. Ensnared enemies’ DEF decreases by 16% for 1 turn(s).

Instead of being completely free-to-play like the other suggestions, “Resolution Shines As Pearls of Sweat” stands out as the top 4-star light cone for Fugue, particularly when players can fully enhance it with superimposition. This light cone provides extra team advantages by lowering enemies’ defense even further and applying a distinct debuff, which can prove useful in specific scenarios. However, if players haven’t upgraded it to S5, it might be wiser to prioritize the free-to-play options presented earlier.

1. Long Road Leads Home

HP ATK DEF
953 476 661
S5 Passive
Increases the wearer’s Break Effect by 60%. When an enemy target’s Weakness gets broken, there is a 100% base chance to inflict the “Charring” state on it, which increases its Break DMG taken by 18%, lasting for 2 turn(s). This effect can stack 2 time(s).

In simpler terms, among Fugue’s offerings, “Long Road Leads Home” stands out as her most notable choice. However, it’s not as crucial as certain light cones are for other characters, such as “Acheron” and “Boothill”. This is due to its main advantages being an extra Break Effect and some team-wide bonuses. While these team-wide bonuses are beneficial, they aren’t as impactful as those provided by “Resolution Shines As Pearls of Sweat”. Therefore, if players aim to delve deeper into Fugue, they might be better off focusing on her eidolons or saving resources for future characters.
