ROMANTIC RESURRECTION
As a longtime admirer of Indian cinema, I am absolutely thrilled about the international re-release of Yash Chopra’s timeless masterpiece “Veer Zaara.” Having grown up on Bollywood classics, this movie holds a special place in my heart due to its enchanting storytelling and powerful performances. The fact that it will make its debut in Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Qatar is truly heartwarming and symbolizes the growing global appreciation for Indian cinema.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the movie “Veer Zaara,” India’s Yash Raj Films is planning a global re-release. Starting November 7, this Shah Rukh Khan film will be shown on 600 screens worldwide.
2004’s romantic film, starring Khan alongside Preity Zinta and Rani Mukerji, is set to premiere in theaters in Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Qatar as part of a global release spanning 19 territories, including North America, Europe, Australia, and South Africa.
The remake will feature the unheard track “Here We Come Back, Where?” for the first time in the cinematic version of the movie. In 2004, “Veer Zaara” was not only the top-earning Indian film domestically but also overseas.
I could feel the anticipation from fans worldwide that they wanted to witness this love story unfold,” I, Nelson D’Souza, Vice President of International Distribution at YRF, expressed. “The buzz on social media and the requests we received from our offices globally made it clear that people were eagerly awaiting us to make this decision.
LOGO LOVE
Jio Studios, the entertainment division belonging to Mukesh Ambani’s company Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), recently introduced its fresh animated logo. This unveiling coincides with the release of the film “Singham Again.” In a successful year for this Indian production studio, they have already achieved successes with movies such as “Article 370,” “Shaitaan,” and “Stree 2.
The animated sequence features a mandala-inspired design incorporating Indian languages and musical elements, culminating in a gold lotus motif. Set to a sitar-led score, the black and gold visuals align with the studio’s mandate of “Make in India, Show the World.”
Ever since its debut in 2018, Jio Studios has churned out over a hundred movies and TV shows. Their schedule for 2024 has kept the box office buzzing, with “Singham Again” being the second highest opening of the year. Notably, “Laapata Ladies” was chosen to represent India in the Oscars.
Jyoti Deshpande, president of RIL’s media and content division, stated that a dynamic logo symbolizes our emotions, represents our brand identity and values, and encapsulates our vision. She highlighted the studio’s recent achievements such as ‘Stree 2’ and ‘Lost Ladies’,” says Jyoti Deshpande.
