Viola Davis Narrates Kamala Harris Campaign Video: ‘It’s Time for a New Generation of Leadership’

As I watch this powerful and moving video narrated by Viola Davis, I am deeply moved by the story of Kamala Harris and her mother Shyamala Gopalan Harris. The resilience, determination, and love that Shyamala instilled in her daughters is truly inspiring.

As Election Day draws nearer with only about 24 hours remaining, the Harris-Walz team has unveiled a fresh video, which features Viola Davis as its narrator.

The advertisement titled “Mother” commences with the Academy Award-winner narrating the tale of Kamala Harris’ mom, Shyamala Gopalan Harris. “A deep part of you breaks open once you become a mother,” Davis states. “You come to understand much later that your children will be your lasting impact after you’re gone.

Displaying a photo of Shyamala, Davis comments, “At the age of 19, this woman immigrated to America. She was only five feet tall, yet she towered in stature. She became a renowned cancer researcher and gave birth to two daughters – Kamala and Maya. Through them, she passed on her enduring legacy.

She stressed the importance of self-confidence and advocacy, which led Kamala to become a relentless fighter for justice as a prosecutor, an attorney general tackling corporate abuse to safeguard the working class, a senator championing women’s rights, and now she embarks on a fresh path as Vice President,” she added.

In the video, Davis speaks while “Freedom” by Beyoncé plays, expressing that every worker deserves to labor with dignity – it’s their right. He further emphasizes that each generation should strive to surpass the previous one – that’s their legacy. Additionally, he believes every American should have the opportunity to buy a home, start their own business, and accumulate savings for investments. Davis concludes by calling for a fresh wave of leadership, characterized by optimism and faith in a brighter future for all Americans.

The video concludes with Davis stating, “This child of Shyamala, this part of the American narrative, stands prepared to guide us into the future.

On a surprising turn of events, Harris graced the stage on “Saturday Night Live” together with her look-alike, Maya Rudolph, over the weekend. It’s predicted that Lady Gaga will endorse Harris on Monday, joining forces at a rally in Philadelphia with Oprah Winfrey, Ricky Martin, Jazmine Sullivan, The Roots, DJ Cassidy, Fat Joe, DJ Jazzy Jeff, and Adam Blackstone. Meanwhile, Katy Perry, Andra Day, and D-Nice are slated to entertain the crowd at a rally in Pittsburgh on the same day.
