As a seasoned gamer with a decade of mobile gaming under my belt, I can empathize with fellow Pokémon TCG Pocket enthusiasts who are currently grappling with the persistent crashing issues. It’s been a rollercoaster ride, to say the least, but I’ve managed to find some solutions that have worked for me and others in the community.
A significant number of Pokémon TCG Pocket gamers are encountering persistent crashing problems, predominantly affecting iOS users and a handful of Android players. The issue seems to be stemming from a bug that causes the screen to momentarily glitch or flash before the game abruptly shuts down. Here’s a list of potential solutions you might want to consider.
Pokemon TCG Pocket crashing solutions
Update the game to the latest version
A few days following an influx of complaints on the game’s subreddit and their old platform (Twitter), regarding persistent crashes, the developers acknowledged the issue and announced that they had launched update 1.0.6, available now on both Android and iOS devices.
The update resolves the problem of the app crashing, in addition to addressing other glitches. You can obtain this update by downloading it from either the App Store or the Google Play Store.
Update your phone
As a gamer on my Mi or Redmi device, I always ensure that both the game and my Operating System are running smoothly. Since the game requires MIUI 12.5 compatible with Android 11, it’s essential to check for updates regularly. To do this, navigate to Settings, then About and finally Update. This will help me keep my gaming experience optimal and bug-free!
If there’s no update on your device, try adjusting your phone’s region by navigating to Settings, then More settings, Region, and select United States. This action might trigger a download of updates since the US is often among the first to receive them. Once updated, feel free to change your region back to its original setting.
Change phone region
Several gamers have found a solution to prevent their game from crashing by altering their phone’s region/country setting to the United Kingdom. To do this on an iOS device, navigate to Settings, then General, followed by Language & Region and finally Region. Change it to United Kingdom. If you’re using MIUI or HyperOS, the same option can be found within the Additional Settings.
After choosing your region, start the game and complete the tutorial if you haven’t yet. Following that, return to your original or default region.
Use a different app language
Navigate to Settings, then select Apps, followed by Pokemon TGCP. From there, choose Language and pick either Japanese or Traditional Chinese as your language option. After changing the app’s language, you can then adjust it back to your preferred language within the game.
To change the language to English, first open the game, then navigate to the settings within the hamburger menu (the icon resembling a stack of three horizontal lines). Scroll down until you find the “Language Selection” option, which is situated just below “Frame Rate Cap” and “Haptic Feedback”. Simply click on it and select English.
Other common troubleshooting steps
If you’ve followed every step provided earlier and the game continues to malfunction, here are some additional actions you might consider:
- Make sure you have a stable internet connection and enough storage space.
- Close all other apps to free up the RAM before launching Pokemon TGC Pocket.
- If you are using an Android, try clearing the cache. You can do this by going into Settings > Apps > Pokemon TGC > Storage > Clear Cache.
- If your game is laggy or choppy, you can set the Display Quality to High Performance and limit the frame rate to 30fps.
