How to beat Slogra and Gaibon in Vampire Survivors Ode to Castlevania

As a seasoned gamer with years of gaming under my belt, I can confidently guide you through the labyrinthine world of Vampire Survivors in this Ode to Castlevania DLC.

As a gamer venturing through Dracula’s ominous castle in Vampire Survivors: Ode to Castlevania, I stumbled upon Slogra and Gaibon – two early bosses that weren’t too challenging to conquer. Defeating these monsters with the help of Grant Danasty granted me access to the enchanting Sypha Belnades character.

If you’re new to Ode to Castlevania, I suggest you pick up the map located in the eastern part of the game map. You can find it within the forest indicated by the green arrow on your screen. This will give you a general understanding of the levels and most importantly, the position of the bosses. I’ve highlighted the locations of Slogra and Gaibon on the attached map, as well as the path leading to them (follow the yellow lines).

Stepping into Castlevania beyond the bridge, continue your westward journey until you encounter the first formidable foe: the colossal Bat. You can identify these bosses by the skull icon on the map, and to summon them, stand upon the red symbol. Overcoming the Giant Bat grants you the Stallion Gate relic, providing access to the subsequent area. Adhere to the suggested path, and you’ll then find the sigil that summons the Giant Medusa Head. If desired, you can bypass this boss battle. Proceeding further east will lead you to the sigils for both Slogra and Gaibon.

Walk across it to bring Gaibon out first, then walk again to summon Slogra. It’s best to defeat one boss at a time instead of facing both simultaneously for an easier fight. Gather your power-ups and weapons of choice before starting the battle. Don’t forget to upgrade your arsenal to stand a chance against Slogra, Gaibon, and other enemies. Watch out for the light fixtures (chandeliers) as they often drop useful upgrades. I managed to quickly defeat Slogra with the Nduja Fritta power-up, but getting one is quite lucky.

How to beat Slogra and Gaibon in Vampire Survivors Ode to Castlevania

  1. Unlock Leon Belmont
  2. Unlock Trevor Belmont (by defeating Giant Medusa Head using Leon)
  3. Unlock Grant Danasty (by evolving Dragon Water Whip, Trevor’s base weapon)
  4. Unlock Sypha (by defeating Slogra and Gaibon using Grant Danasty)

In simpler terms, if you come across the Dragon Water Whip during gameplay in Ode to Castlevania, you can proceed directly to step three and develop the Dragon Water Whip. However, I’ve observed that this weapon is not common, so it might be more advantageous to initially select Trevor as your character because he automatically gets the Dragon Water Whip.

To begin with, set course westward towards the indicated location on your map, where you’ll find the ominous entrance to Count Dracula’s Castle. There, amidst a whirl of shadows and wings, you’ll spot a coffin guarded by a swarm of bats that seem almost impossible to approach. However, with a flick of my trusty whip, I’ll dispatch those pesky creatures and make my way towards the mysterious coffin. Inside, I’ll release Leon Belmont, an ally whose skills will be invaluable in my quest, thus expanding my roster of characters.

Choose Leon Belmont as your character for the next round in the Ode to Castlevania DLC. Gain levels and collect powerful weapons and upgrades, then head towards the Giant Medusa Head boss (refer to the map above for its location). Once you reach there, stand on the red symbol to summon the monster. After defeating it, you’ll be able to play as Trevor Belmont.

How to unlock Grant Danasty in Vampire Survivors

In the upcoming game, opt for Trevor Belmont since he already has the Dragon Water Whip as his primary weapon. You won’t have to depend on chance to obtain it anymore. The next phase involves upgrading the Dragon Water Whip. To do this, first, ensure that you fully level up the weapon and then gather the Attractorb magnet.

  • Upgrade the Dragon Water Whip to level 8 by collecting Gems dropped by enemies and Treasure Chests left by bosses. This will take some time so keep on playing. Try not to spend your level on upgrading other items and prioritize leveling up Dragon Water Whip first.
  • However, you must pick up an Attractorb when it appears (second image above). You don’t need to level up this skill further, so once acquired, forget about it.

Once you’ve reached the maximum level with your Dragon Water Whip and gathered an Attractorb, follow up by defeating any boss to unlock a Treasure Chest. Upon opening the chest, the Hydrostormer Tip will appear, resulting in the evolution of your Dragon Water Whip, granting you the Grant Danasty character.

In the upcoming game round, free Grant Danasty at a cost of 241 coins and pick him as your character in Ode to Castlevania. His primary weapon is the Curved Knife, which isn’t my favorite, so I suggest investing in leveling up and acquiring better weapons and upgrades for Grant before venturing into Dracula’s Castle. Remember, to proceed further, you need to vanquish Slogra and Gaibon first. After their defeat, you can permanently unlock Sypha Belnades by spending 2,165 coins.
