Gabe Newell buys $71 million mansion with its own tunnel to the beach

Gabe Newell, the head of Valve, recently bought an incredible $71 million mansion in Florida—it even has its own tunnel!

You know, Gabe Newell is usually pretty private, but he does pop up occasionally, and it’s always awesome! He’s a regular at The International, the big Dota 2 tournament, and it’s cool to see him actually on stage introducing the teams. I even found out he has his own voice lines in the game, which is just a fun little detail that shows how involved he still is!

Despite many fans, especially those who love Counter-Strike, hoping to see him at a Major tournament, the 63-year-old shared that he’s still working every day. He spends his time on a boat, enjoying his favorite activities.

Besides enjoying sailing, Newell recently bought a luxurious mansion in Manalapan, Florida, for $71 million.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Newell Brands bought a waterfront house from Cindy and Ron McMackin, who founded the plumbing and HVAC firm Pan-Pacific Mechanical.

The mansion is enormous and includes a spacious eight-car garage, an outdoor pool, a private dock, and even a boat lift – all features Newell is likely to enjoy.

Plus, the property includes a secret underground tunnel leading to a private beach, and an elevator for easy access between floors. It’s a really luxurious home.

Although it’s a significant expense, Newell – with an estimated net worth of about $11 billion – has spent even more money recently.

Last November, Valve’s CEO purchased a luxurious $500 million superyacht complete with gaming areas. He also invested $300 million in a deep-sea research vessel, intended to be the lead ship in a new fleet dedicated to ocean exploration.

The fleet is scheduled to begin operating in 2028. Its main ship will carry small submarines capable of diving up to 6,000 feet, allowing for deep-sea exploration.
