Emilia Clarke admits Solo ‘wasn’t liked’ and apologizes for Secret Invasion

While Emilia Clarke became famous for her role in Game of Thrones, some of her other recent projects haven’t been very successful. She’s even apologized for her part in the Marvel series, Secret Invasion, which wasn’t well-received by viewers.

During her time on Game of Thrones, Clarke also appeared in the movies Terminator Genisys (2015) and Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018). Though opinions were divided, I personally enjoyed Solo.

Following the divisive final season of Game of Thrones, Emilia Clarke appeared in Secret Invasion, a Marvel show adapted from a popular comic book series. However, the show was widely criticized and poorly received by both fans and reviewers.

Emilia Clarke says “no one liked” Secret Invasion

In an interview with Variety, Olivia Clarke jokingly expressed regret about the reception of Secret Invasion, saying, “I don’t think anyone liked that show!” and then quickly apologized.

She admitted she wasn’t a fan of some of her past roles. ‘I didn’t enjoy working on Star Wars, and I wish they hadn’t made Terminator,’ she said. ‘But I took those jobs, and that’s what matters, right?’

The actor wasn’t discouraged by negative reactions to her work. She explained, ‘I joined projects that were already established, so if they weren’t successful, I didn’t take it as a personal failure.’

After that, she began declining more opportunities, and stopped striving for perfection. Instead, she started choosing projects simply because they sounded fun and enjoyable.

She explained that for her, a project is finished once filming wraps – meaning she has no control over how audiences will react to it.

Emilia Clarke spoke out in support of the creators of Game of Thrones, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, defending their choices in the final season, particularly the controversial ending and Daenerys Targaryen’s storyline, and calling them “geniuses.”

She explained that even if she’d wanted to, she couldn’t have altered how Dany’s story ended. The show’s creators insisted the actors deliver their lines word-for-word as written.
