Digital Extremes revealed during their May Devstream that the next story installment for Warframe, titled Jade Shadows: Constellations, will be available for free on all platforms starting June 17th.
The Warframe development team recently revealed a unique new Warframe – Sirius and Orion, which function as two characters in one. They also announced new Protoframes, Railjack missions, the upcoming Styanax Prime Warframe, and new Incarnon weapons. Warframe is currently playable on Switch 2, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox, Switch, iOS, Android, and PC. You can find details on my PlayStation 5 Pro experience here, and Digital Extremes has released Devstream 196, new screenshots, and further information available below.
Digital Extremes shared more details about the upcoming Warframe story chapter, ‘Jade Shadows: Constellations,’ during today’s Devstream. It will be available as a free update on all platforms starting June 17th. The team revealed Warframe 65 – a unique Warframe with two playable characters, Sirius and Orion, and new Protoframes. They also previewed highly anticipated Railjack missions, the next Prime Warframe (Styanax Prime), and new Incarnon weapons. Additionally, the Mesa Heirloom cosmetic will launch on July 11th, and Digital Extremes hinted at a fashion collaboration and pop-up event with Los Angeles-based fashion house ARK/8.
Creating two playable characters for this update was a huge challenge for our design team,” said Megan Everett, Warframe’s Community Director. “We’re thrilled with how the gameplay and story come together – these two characters are constantly battling for control, reflecting their complex relationship, and the player is right in the middle of it. Your choices from the previous quest, Jade Shadows, will directly impact what happens in this new one. This is the first time we’ve done a sequel quest and combined characters like this, and we can’t wait to see what players think when it launches in June!
Highlights from the May Devstream include:
In Jade Shadows: Constellations, a new conflict between timelines emerges on June 17th. You’ll be able to play as the 65th Warframe, Sirius & Orion – a unique Warframe that lets you control two different frames at once!
Each Warframe could have a unique passive ability that generates ‘motes’ based on using their main powers. Players could freely switch between two different versions of this passive ability, customizing how motes are earned or used.
As Sirius, you can throw his scythe, which returns to you like a boomerang, collecting energy orbs and ammunition along the way. You can also create small, exploding stars to damage enemies, or create an area that heals your teammates and protects them from harm.
Playing as Orion, I can really control the battlefield. I’ve got this huge sweeping attack that weakens enemies, a cool astral shield that throws off attackers with a decoy when I get hit, and even a black hole I can use to zip around and pull enemies right towards me. It’s a really aggressive playstyle!
Bring the competition to a head with a powerful, shared ability that launches both Warframes into the air to collide. This collision damages enemies caught in the impact. Carefully switch between controlling each Warframe to maximize the damage with every hit.
