It seems appearing on the show Taskmaster might actually encourage creativity! Armando Iannucci, the award-winning creator of shows like Veep and The Thick of It, will co-write the next Paddington movie with Simon Blackwell, according to Variety. While known for sharp political satire, Iannucci is currently a contestant on Taskmaster. This pairing raises an amusing thought: perhaps as Paddington matures, he’ll start saying delightfully silly things. Dougal Wilson, who directed the latest Paddington in Peru, is likely to direct the fourth film. Interestingly, Wilson took over the Paddington franchise from Paul King, who is now working on a live-action movie based on the Labubu character – separate from the upcoming Gremlins 3.
StudioCanal is working to make Paddington a worldwide success, and a fourth Paddington movie is in development, potentially releasing in 2027 or 2028 – coinciding with the character’s 70th anniversary. Plans are also underway to bring the award-winning stage show, Paddington: The Musical, from London’s West End to Broadway. It seems this beloved Peruvian bear is becoming a global icon!
