The popular show Rick and Morty is gearing up for its ninth season, and creator Dan Harmon has revealed exciting plans for the future. Recent rumors about a Rick and Morty movie at Warner Bros. have been confirmed – a film is officially in development.
Although Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon were initially tight-lipped about a potential Rick and Morty movie, Harmon acknowledged the news had already leaked online. He then confirmed the project during an interview with CinemaBlend.
So, that leak we all saw? It’s true – they’re making a movie! And get this, Jacob Hair is directing. Honestly, we didn’t even need to look for anyone else. Jacob isn’t just good, he’s… well, calling him a ‘rock star’ doesn’t even cut it, because that makes it sound like a fleeting thing. When Jacob joined the team, it felt like we suddenly had a solid foundation, like everything just got stronger.
Dan Harmon Praises Rick and Morty Movie Director
Harmon was incredibly enthusiastic about Jacob and immediately thought of him as the ideal director for a potential movie. He explained that the first question was, ‘Could Jacob direct it?’ because having him at the helm would be a dream. Harmon felt Jacob, having done such outstanding work on the show, was uniquely qualified – comparing his talent to Donald Glover’s, suggesting there didn’t seem to be anything Jacob couldn’t accomplish.
Scott Marder, the showrunner for Rick and Morty, also gave credit to Hair, who is a supervising director on the show. Marder explained that if viewers enjoy Season 9, it’s largely thanks to Hair’s work and direction.
Rick and Morty Returns for Season 9
A Rick and Morty movie is probably still quite a long way off, especially since the plans weren’t supposed to be revealed yet. It’s also unclear if it will be shown in theaters or released directly on a streaming service.
In the meantime, Rick and Morty, the TV show, is set to return for its ninth season. :
Get ready, because Rick and Morty is back with Season 9! This season is packed with great episodes – completely original and made by actual humans, not AI. We put a lot of work into it, so please give it a watch!
Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen recently stated that the show consistently surpasses itself, and he believes that’s genuinely the case. He expressed amazement at the creative team’s ability to deliver increasingly brilliant and wildly imaginative episodes each season, promising viewers a consistently high level of innovative and unpredictable content from the very beginning. He acknowledges his role is to promote the show, but insists his praise is sincere.
Rick and Morty Season 9 premieres on Adult Swim on May 24.
