A Steam customer received a free game from Steam Support after their Steam Controller was mistakenly shipped to the United Kingdom.
A Reddit user shared a message from Steam Support online, explaining that a few packages were accidentally sent to the UK.
Valve stated that the shipping company is currently rerouting the package to the right address and suggested the customer keep checking the GLS tracking information for updates.
To apologize for the delay, Steam Support then offered something unexpected.
Steam praised for offering free game compensation
Our support team reached out and offered to add a game to your collection. They asked you to choose any standard-edition game currently available in your area and simply reply with your choice.

The Reddit user later said in the thread that they chose Forza Horizon 6 as their free game.
The post spread rapidly across Reddit and other social media because people were surprised Steam Support let the player pick almost any game from the store instead of just giving them store credit or a few limited choices.
Many people playfully suggested they wouldn’t mind waiting longer for their order if it included a free, top-rated video game.
It also brought out other stories of how effective Steam’s Support service is at times.
I was reading on X about someone having a really great experience with Steam Support. Apparently, their debit card info was stolen and someone spent $185 buying games for themselves! They contacted Steam Support, and unbelievably, they got their money back within an hour. It’s awesome to hear they handled it so quickly and efficiently – seriously impressive!
The Steam Controller became available in May 2026 and quickly sold out. It’s also gained a lot of attention online because of its unique feature: it actually makes a screaming sound if you drop it!
