Embark Studios is changing how it updates Arc Raiders. Instead of smaller updates every month, they’ll now focus on releasing two larger content updates each year.
Arc Raiders has been consistently updated throughout 2026 with monthly additions like new weapons and the Riven Tides map. Despite this regular content, some players feel the updates haven’t provided enough new things to do and haven’t kept them engaged for long.
The developers have listened to feedback and are now planning to make updates more impactful and worthwhile.
Next Arc Raiders update coming in October
We’ve decided to release two big updates each year. These won’t be small changes – we’re aiming for significant improvements that really change the way you experience the game, as announced in our latest blog post.
Even though we’ll continue to have a team providing regular updates – including bug fixes and new events – those updates will still be released as usual.
This extra space lets us focus more on making ARC Raiders a great experience, including improving how players progress, balancing the in-game economy, ensuring fair gameplay, and fighting cheaters. We understand these elements are crucial, especially since every battle and successful escape is so important.
Embark Studios announced that a big update, called “Frozen Trail,” is coming in October. This update will include a new map – their most extensive ARC Operation yet – as well as improvements to the skill tree and other enhancements.
The name ‘Frozen Trail’ seems to confirm earlier reports about the map featuring locations like a supermarket and an observatory. These reports also suggested the addition of a clan system and a new enemy type inspired by the ‘UFOs’ introduced in the Shrouded Sky update.
The decision has caused disagreement within the community. Some people support focusing on quality improvements, while others fear it might lead to fewer players over time between game updates.
