Please be advised that this article reveals key plot details from season one of Off Campus. It also discusses sensitive topics, including sexual assault.
Prime Video’s new series, Off Campus, is a classic romantic drama with a fantastic soundtrack. Based on Elle Kennedy’s popular novels, the first season centers on the sweet love story between Hannah Wells, a music student played by Ella Bright, and Garrett Graham, the hockey team captain at Briar University, played by Belmont Cameli. Music is central to both characters’ lives: Hannah is striving to write a chart-topping pop song, and Garrett relies on his favorite classic rock to get him through hockey practice, training, and social events. The show has already been renewed for a second season.
The first season of Off Campus has a diverse soundtrack, blending energetic rock, upbeat club music, and tender romantic ballads. While an official playlist created by the show’s creator, Louisa Levy, is available on Spotify (and some of those songs are featured in the show), the eight episodes include even more musical discoveries. Most of the songs can be found on Spotify and YouTube, with some covers and original tracks potentially becoming available later on.
Episode 1: “The Deal”
The first episode, titled “The Deal,” introduces Hannah and Garrett. They meet at Briar University’s hockey rink – Hannah is working there while Garrett is finishing practice. They share a fun moment, dancing and skating to Billy Idol’s “Dancing With Myself,” right before Hannah unexpectedly walks in on Garrett in the shower. This scene also reveals a glimpse of Garrett’s Spotify playlist. Since that playlist isn’t available yet, we’ve created a complete list of songs for you below.

As a music lover, even though the songs in this episode weren’t the deepest picks of the series yet, Elton John’s “The Bitch Is Back” really jumped out at me. It perfectly captures what both Hannah and Garrett are into, but more than that, it felt like a turning point for Hannah. Seeing someone from her past allowed her to just let go and dance, and it was so powerful. And honestly, watching her have that carefree moment also helped Garrett recenter himself after his tough conversation with his dad. It was a really sweet scene, and you could feel how important they were starting to become to each other.
Episode 2: “The Practice”
In the second episode of Off Campus, titled “The Practice,” Hannah and Garrett start a classic fake dating scheme. Garrett agrees to help Hannah get the attention of her crush, Justin Kohl. The episode features a great soundtrack, including upbeat songs like Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull’s “On The Floor” during a birthday party for Beau and Dean. There are also more touching musical moments, such as when Role Model’s “Deeply Still In Love” plays as Hannah arrives at the party, and Garrett can’t help but smile when he sees her.

| “Keep Pretending” | After Hours | Garrett wakes up after they’ve fallen asleep together, and he leaves the bed. |
| “Edge of the Earth” | The Beaches | Garrett listens to this song on the bus. |
Episode 3: “The Orgasm”
In this episode, Hannah and Garrett’s relationship takes a turn towards something more complex, and the music really emphasizes that shift. The song “Hope Is A Scary Thing” by Carol Ades plays perfectly during a key scene: right before Garrett discovers Hannah in his room after a night out, and she makes a move on him. Though they’ve already kissed, this moment marks the beginning of their deeper connection. Garrett’s gentle care for Hannah while she’s intoxicated allows her to open up about a sensitive personal issue the following morning, building trust between them.

Episode 4: “The Breakup”
Episode 4 features a crucial turning point for Hannah and Garrett. After Hannah shares the details of her assault, she asks Garrett for intimacy. The music in this scene is carefully selected to enhance the emotional impact, starting with Griff’s “Vertigo” as Hannah arrives, and including a sweet dance set to “Baby Now That I’ve Found You” by The Foundations – a song that becomes significant for them. As Hannah reconnects with her body and experiences pleasure with someone she trusts, the song “Back In My Body” by Maggie Rogers plays, perfectly capturing her journey.

Episode 5: “The Cold Turkey”
This episode might have fewer songs than previous ones, but they’re still impactful. One song especially stands out, perfectly capturing the mood of a key scene. It seems to be an original composition for the show, and it plays while Hannah and Garrett drive home after Thanksgiving. The song, “Over And Over Again” by Matthew Perryman Jones, reflects Garrett’s deep fear of becoming like his troubled, abusive father. It begins with the lines, “I can see you in myself / And it’s scaring me to death. You’re running from what was, / And what hasn’t happened yet.”

| “Sue Me” | Audrey Hobert | Dean and Allie reveal, and the credits. |
Episode 6: “The Breakaway”
This episode marks the start of the major storylines for season 2. Similar to a previous episode, “The Breakaway” focuses half of its runtime on Allie (Mika Abdalla) and Dean (Stephen Kalyn). Though their story comes from the third book in The Score series, Prime Video is presenting it earlier than the book’s original order. The episode’s music largely revolves around the playful relationship between Dean and Allie, and there’s a special song reference that fans of the books – and especially P!nk – will be thrilled to recognize!
This episode is unique because it includes a song by One Direction – though it’s actually a cover version. Some viewers familiar with the books might be surprised, as One Direction plays a significant role in Hannah’s musical story. However, it’s likely the show couldn’t afford to use an original 1D song.
| SONG | ARTIST | SCENE |
| “Sue Me” | Audrey Hobert | Allie/Dean brief relationship montage. |
| “Sex Party” | Sugar Pit | Dean enters the house while making out with two girls. |
| “Nowhere” | Mod Kiddo | Dean and Allie’s fireside chat. |
| “Bluest Flame (DJ Sliink Remix) | Selena Gomez, benny blanco | Drunken Shakespeare flashback from Allie’s POV. |

| “The Ghost Is Me” | Flora from Kansas | Hannah realizes the guy who assaulted her will be playing against Garrett. Plays during the credits. |
Episode 7: “The Faceoff”
This episode is particularly difficult to watch for Hannah and Garrett. We see a flashback to Hannah’s high school experience, revealing a past assault, while Garrett unexpectedly comes face-to-face with her attacker during a crucial game. Because of the episode’s heavy subject matter, it includes fewer songs than usual. The most memorable musical moment is undoubtedly OK GO’s “This Too Shall Pass,” which powerfully accompanies the scenes depicting Hannah’s traumatic experience.
Jensen McRae’s song “Massachusetts” powerfully reflects the aftermath of Hannah and Garrett’s breakup, which happened after Garrett’s argument with Delaney. Garrett ended things with Hannah because he didn’t want to cause her pain. A particularly poignant moment is when he’s alone at home playing video games, and McRae sings, “It’s getting darker, so I turn you down / But I can’t turn you off.” This lyric beautifully illustrates Garrett’s feelings of sadness and inability to fully disconnect from Hannah.
| SONG | ARTIST | SCENE |
| “This Too Shall Pass” | OK Go | Flashback to Hannah’s high school days. |
| “Life Jacket” | Christian Almiron | Hannah’s adviser plays an original composition on the piano. |
| “Roll Out The Red Carpet” | The Hives | Plays during the third period of Briar U vs. St. Anthony’s. |
| “A Game” | Chloe Qisha | Allie and Joanna Maxwell hang out at a bar. Allie flirts with someone new. |
| “We Never Dated” | sombr | Allie kisses the new guy at the bar. |
| “Massachusetts” | Jensen McRae | The boys are at Malone’s, Garrett’s on his own after fighting with Logan, and Allie comforts Hannah after her breakup with Garrett. Leads into the credits. |
Episode 8: “The Line Change”
Okay, so this episode is pretty much about Hannah and Garrett being apart and both really feeling it. Honestly, it’s a bit sad! The music choices are good, but the highlight for me was definitely Hannah’s performance at the Pop Showcase. After dealing with everything – her relationship with Garrett, telling Allie her feelings, and a tough conversation with her mom – she finally overcomes her writer’s block and sings this amazing song she’s truly proud of. It was so great to see all her friends, including Garrett, there to support her. The song, “Girl That I Am,” was written specifically for the show, but it’s honestly so good, it could easily become one of your new favorites!
| SONG | ARTIST | SCENE |
| “Fade Into You” | Mazzy Star | Both Hannah and Garrett listen to this song while they start their first day apart. |
| “Bucket Beach” | The Pretty Flowers | Plays in the background at Malone’s when Hannah tries to take a group’s order. |
| “Too Busy Missing You” | Asha Banks | Allie tells Dean to hook up with someone else, Garrett sulks on the ice, and Hannah stays in the dorms. |
| “Page 1” | Ella Bright as Hannah Wells | Garrett watches Hannah’s Instagram video again. |
| “Chain of Need” | Benjamin Jaffe | Plays in the background at Malone’s when Dean meets up with Beau. |
| “I Want You” | Debbii Dawson | Allie sees the new guy from the bar on campus. |
| “Messy” | REDD. | Plays during the last game as Garrett watches in the stands. |
