Where Queen Maeve Is During The Boys Season 5

Queen Maeve played a major role in the first three seasons of The Boys, but she hasn’t appeared at all in seasons four and five. Fans have been wondering why she’s missing from the show’s final seasons, but it appears The Boys has already explained her absence.

Queen Maeve, like many superheroes in the series, was initially under Vought’s strict control and afraid to challenge Homelander’s power. However, near the end of season 3 of The Boys, she finally took a stand, battling Homelander and ultimately saving people from the dangerous blasts of Soldier Boy.

I was so worried when it looked like she’d given her life, stepping in front of Soldier Boy’s blast! It really seemed like the ultimate sacrifice. But then, the end of season 3 revealed she actually did survive! It was incredible, though heartbreaking to learn she’d lost her powers in the process. I’m just relieved she’s still with us, even if she’s not the same as before.

Because she wasn’t in seasons four and five, it’s likely she’s living a normal life somewhere. However, there might be more to her story than we know.

We Can Assume Queen Maeve Hasn’t Been Placed In One Of Homelander’s Camps

Queen Maeve has secretly been alive, and Homelander thinks she’s dead. If he knew the truth, he probably would have imprisoned her. Even at the end of season 3, Vought publicly claimed Maeve died a hero while fighting Soldier Boy.

In The Boys, very few trustworthy people discovered that she was still alive, and they’re unlikely to tell anyone, particularly Homelander. Because Maeve lost her powers during the final episodes of season 3, Starlight and her team haven’t had any reason to reach out to her or include her in their fight against Homelander.

Because of this, it’s likely Maeve is now living a quiet, peaceful life somewhere. However, considering how she publicly opposed Homelander at the end of season 3 of The Boys, she’s probably becoming more and more worried about how much power he’s gaining.

Why The Deep Is Unlikely To Expose Queen Maeve’s Survival

The Deep believes Homelander would reward him for revealing what really happened to Queen Maeve, but he probably won’t. He wasn’t directly involved in hiding the truth about her supposed death; Ashley Barrett was the one who destroyed the evidence and deleted the footage proving Maeve was still alive.

I’m really worried about what The Deep might reveal in the next season of The Boys. It seems like he’s the only one who knows exactly what happened with Flight 37. Back in season 2, he was the one who actually went down to the wreckage and got the footage proving Homelander and Maeve left those passengers to die. Because of that, they have to be super careful about letting him talk – he’s a walking liability!

In the opening scene of The Boys season 5, Starlight used footage to reveal Homelander’s misdeeds. If Homelander discovers The Deep assisted Maeve and the team in getting that footage, he’d likely feel deeply betrayed and retaliate, possibly with deadly force. Despite often making questionable choices, The Deep realizes he needs to keep certain things hidden to protect himself.

Why Queen Maeve Isn’t Part Of Starlight’s Resistance

As a huge fan of The Boys, I was a little surprised to learn that Dominique McElligott won’t be back as Queen Maeve for seasons four and five. Honestly, it kind of made sense narratively though. Her character arc felt pretty complete after season three. She not only saved a bunch of people from Soldier Boy, but she actually hurt Homelander – a huge moment! It felt like a solid ending for her, even amidst all the craziness with the other supes.

As season 3 of The Boys concluded, Starlight expressed her desire for a quiet life with her girlfriend, Elena. She’s also become very selective about who she trusts and works with, understanding the dangers of her plan to defeat Homelander and deliberately maintaining distance from many potential allies.

At the end of Gen V season 2, Starlight invited the young superheroes to join her fight against Homelander. However, the fact that these characters aren’t appearing in The Boys season 5 implies Starlight chose to keep them safe rather than risk their involvement in a dangerous conflict. Considering Maeve lost her powers earlier in season 3, it also wouldn’t have been practical for her to participate in the resistance.

Queen Maeve’s Absence From The Boys Season 5 Isn’t A Plot Hole (Yet)

Similar to Starlight’s father and others without powers, Maeve doesn’t actually support Homelander. However, she’s likely keeping a low profile and appearing to be a supporter to keep her family safe. Because her role isn’t central to the main story, it’s understandable why she hasn’t been very present.

If Homelander continues to become more powerful, even someone like Queen Maeve probably wouldn’t stay silent. While she’d be limited without her powers, she could still assist the resistance, helping Starlight and the others strategize against Homelander. However, with only two episodes remaining in the season, it doesn’t seem likely she’ll reappear.
