NCIS Dethrones Y: Marshals on Paramount+ in the U.S.

Don’t underestimate the enduring popularity of . Despite a new crime show based on a well-known Western-style story, the original series remains a huge hit, continuing to draw large audiences on streaming platforms over two decades after its debut.

According to data from FlixPatrol, NCIS is currently more popular than Marshals, the newest show in the Yellowstone universe. Marshals is the fourth most-watched series on Paramount+ in the US and will finish its first season on May 24th. NCIS is in second place, two spots ahead.

NCIS Is a Consistent Leader on the Streaming Charts

Since Paramount+ launched in 2021, NCIS has consistently been one of the most-watched shows on the streaming service. All twenty-three seasons are available for viewers to enjoy, and it remains as popular online as it has been on regular television. Despite some changes in cast and storylines over the years, NCIS continues to attract a loyal audience.

While NCIS doesn’t usually top the charts on Paramount+ (this week it’s in second place), it consistently ranks among the top ten shows. That’s a remarkable achievement for any TV series, especially one that first aired in 2003. It regularly outperforms other crime procedurals on the platform, like Criminal Minds, Blue Bloods, and the newer show, Marshals.

What NCIS’s Streaming Success Means for Its Future (and Marshals)

The continued popularity of NCIS on streaming platforms suggests a bright future for the show. As long as viewers keep tuning in, CBS plans to continue producing it. Even before the season finale on May 12th, NCIS has been renewed for a twenty-fourth season, likely to air next fall. This news coincides with the announcement of a new spin-off, NCIS: New York, featuring characters from NCIS: Los Angeles.

As a big fan of The Marshals, I’m not too worried about NCIS‘s recent success. Sure, the people behind The Marshals probably hoped their new show would beat an established hit, but it’s still doing great! It’s already been picked up for another season, even if some fans and critics haven’t loved it as much. And with more Yellowstone spin-offs coming, like Dutton Ranch later this month, the whole franchise is still strong – even if it doesn’t quite top a classic like NCIS.
