Riverdale star KJ Apa accuses TikTok doppelganger Mr. Fantasy of “stealing” his identity

KJ Apa, known for his role in Riverdale, claims a TikTok musician called ‘Mr. Fantasy’ is impersonating him. Fans have been discussing the possibility of them being the same person for months.

KJ Apa, famous for playing Archie Andrews in the TV show Riverdale, is tired of rumors and gossip about him and Mr. Fantasy.

The trouble started in late 2025 when Mr. Fantasy’s TikTok account became incredibly popular. People noticed a striking resemblance between him and Apa, which sparked a lot of discussion.

Interestingly, the pair share a similar tattoo, and Mr. Fantasy’s latest music video, ‘Do Me Right,’ includes several of Apa’s fellow actors from Riverdale.

Some fans think this is just a fun, unplanned hobby project for Apa, with a playful new persona. Others suspect it’s a smart marketing strategy to build excitement for an upcoming movie or other big announcement.

KJ Apa says Mr. Fantasy has ruined his chances for “serious work”

Okay, so Apa finally addressed all the gossip! On May 8th, he went on Instagram and basically called out Mr. Fantasy, saying he was stealing his identity. It was a pretty strong post, honestly!

The actor initially didn’t believe the problem needed to be dealt with, but he now realizes it’s escalated to the point where it’s affecting him directly.

He explained that this situation is personally and professionally damaging. A recent music video featured people he knows well, and he feels another artist has blatantly copied his style and used his image without permission.

It’s obvious who I’m referring to, and it’s really frustrating. I recently missed out on a major job opportunity, and now it’s going to be difficult to be taken seriously in my field because of this person’s actions.

I’m not sure how to handle this, so I’m bringing it here and will do my best to protect myself. It’s incredibly disrespectful and completely unacceptable behavior.

While some people suspect this is all a prank, several individuals connected to Apa have responded to the post, expressing regret for their participation in Mr. Fantasy’s music video.

One person jokingly exclaimed, referencing the old Disney Channel show Hannah Montana, that they were confused about what was happening.

“This made me more confused,” another wrote.

Mr. Fantasy hasn’t replied to Kapa’s post on Instagram yet. But in a past interview, he mentioned he hadn’t noticed anyone questioning if he and Kapa were the same individual.
