Stanley Tucci doesn’t enjoy cooking competition shows, seeing them as artificial and pointless. Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the Devil Wears Prada star explained that he believes art and food should unite people, not pit them against each other. He feels judging food is unfair because taste is entirely personal. Tucci, whose father was an art teacher, recalls him questioning how anyone could objectively grade creative work. He points out that everyone perceives things differently, making the idea of declaring a ‘best’ chef or actor illogical.
Rather than competing with other chefs, Tucci has been exploring his Italian heritage through his cooking shows. He’s hosted both Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy on CNN and Tucci in Italy on National Geographic (season two premieres May 11th). If you’re looking for delicious and easy-to-make Italian food, these shows might inspire you!
