Dark Side of the Ring Officially Sets Return Date, New Subjects Revealed

The popular documentary series Dark Side of the Ring will return for its seventh season on Vice TV, with a premiere date now confirmed. Details about the season’s topics have also been announced.

The seventh season of Dark Side of the Ring will premiere on Vice TV on July 7, 2026, at 9 p.m. Eastern Time. The season will begin with two episodes airing back-to-back, and then new episodes will be released each week. The first story will focus on Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling and its co-founder, Jeff Jarrett. The three-part series will explore how TNA, built from scratch by Jarrett and others, initially showed a lot of potential as a competitor to WWE, but later faced significant internal issues.

Season 7 Is Dark Side of the Ring’s “Most Ambitious” Season

According to Vice TV president Pete Gaffney, Dark Side of the Ring is a very popular show because it honestly portrays the hardships and sacrifices made by professional wrestlers. He notes that wrestling is a major part of American pop culture, and the series delves deeper into the contrast between the exciting performance and the often difficult reality, revealing untold stories and challenging what fans believe they already know.

According to co-creators Evan Husney and Jason Eisener, Season 7 is their most challenging and expansive season yet. They specifically highlighted their three-part look at TNA Wrestling, focusing on Jeff Jarrett’s story of overcoming obstacles. They believe Jarrett’s journey provides a compelling and relatable look at the early days of the company, showcasing both its successes and struggles, and ultimately proving how human and captivating these wrestling stories can be.

Dark Side of the Ring Season 7’s Episode Subjects

Season 7 of Dark Side of the Ring will cover more than just TNA Wrestling, exploring difficult stories from throughout pro wrestling history. Individual episodes will focus on the lives and careers of Paul Orndorff, Ray “Big Boss Man” Traylor, Missy Hyatt, one-legged wrestler Zach Gowen, and Rick Wilson (known as The Renegade). The season will also feature a look at the notorious match between Necro Butcher and Samoa Joe.

As a huge fan of documentaries, I gotta say, Dark Side of the Ring really hit different. It’s become super popular on Vice, and it’s cool to see they’ve built a whole series around that same vibe. Now we’ve got Dark Side of Football, Dark Side of the 90s, Dark Side of the 2000s, Dark Side of Reality TV, and even Dark Side of the Cage! It first came out in 2019, and ever since, it’s consistently been one of the most-watched things on Vice – honestly, it’s gripping stuff, diving into some of the really heartbreaking stories from wrestling’s past.

Previous installments of the show have covered difficult subjects such as the tragic death of Owen Hart and the notorious “Plane Ride from Hell” – a chaotic, alcohol-fueled flight that led to several people losing their jobs.

Dark Side of the Ring Season 7 premieres on July 7, 2026, on Vice TV.
