Wow, can you believe it’s already been five years since Cyberpunk 2077 came out? It feels like just yesterday! I honestly thought interest might have waned, but 2024 is blowing my mind! They’re announcing so much cool stuff – multiplayer arcade games, a new card game, and even a totally immersive VR experience in Night City. It’s awesome to see them still supporting the game and expanding the universe!
While there’s been a lot of free extra content for Cyberpunk 2077, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is truly exceptional. The ten-episode anime series from 2022, created by Studio Trigger and CD Projekt Red, is fantastic, and fans are eagerly awaiting a second season. Before that happens, Edgerunners is coming back with a new downloadable content crossover event.
The popular free-to-play game Wuthering Waves is teaming up with Cyberpunk 2077 in a new update, version 3.4. This collaboration adds characters from the Edgerunners anime series to the game, including Lucy and Rebecca, who will be playable 5-Star characters in the Solaris region. Players will be able to get Rebecca for free. A new trailer hints that David Martinez, the main character from Edgerunners, will also appear.
This limited-time event is scheduled to launch with Version 3.4, currently set to release on June 8, 2026. The developers at Kuro Games will share more details about the event soon, so keep an eye out for updates.
You can download and play Wuthering Waves for free on PC through Steam or the official game launcher. It’s also available on Android, iOS, and PlayStation 5. Xbox players will be able to join the fun in July, though they might not get the Cyberpunk 2077 themed content right away – that’s still uncertain.
Prepare for a long wait for Cyberpunk 2. According to a recent report from Noble Securities, the full sequel might not be released until 2030, marking the tenth anniversary of Cyberpunk 2077. That’s likely disappointing news for fans.
They explained:
According to Noble Securities, the team developing the next Cyberpunk game currently has 135 people, and is projected to grow to 270 within two years. Adding a multiplayer feature has increased the development time compared to their previous game, W4. This has led to a budget of PLN 1.5 billion, and they now anticipate releasing the game in the fourth quarter of 2030 – marking the 10th anniversary of Cyberpunk 77.
If you’re really craving a game like Cyberpunk 2077, you should check out Wuthering Waves – and the best part is, it’s free to play.
