Ironmouse claims Neverness to Everness lied to her about AI use and cancels sponsorship

So, I was really bummed to hear about all the drama surrounding Neverness to Everness. Apparently, people were saying they used AI to create some of the game’s content, which isn’t cool. Ironmouse, a really popular VTuber, totally called them out on it, and honestly, good for her! It’s important to be transparent about stuff like that, you know?

The criticism began when players noticed instances in the game and its trailers that appeared to show artificial intelligence being used, which they felt was problematic.

A popular online post pointed out a striking resemblance between a real-life scene and a moment from the anime film Weathering with You. Another post showcased a video game advertisement that had unusual visual glitches.

Ironmouse recently shared that the developers told her team no AI was used in the project, before the online debate started.

Ironmouse speaks out about NTE AI controversy

She explained that they were told the project didn’t involve any artificial intelligence, and she found that surprising. “I honestly wouldn’t have guessed,” she said. “I only found out after seeing something about it on Twitter after the live stream.”

Man, I’ve been getting a ton of messages lately, and honestly, it’s been wild. People were straight-up telling my sponsors that I wasn’t using any AI in my streams or content, which is a total lie. I saw the messages, and I was just like, ‘Seriously? Why are you guys even saying that?’ It’s frustrating when people try to pull that kind of stuff.

Ironmouse later said she quickly uninstalled the game, calling it the “fastest uninstall” she’d ever done. She also explained that she always checks with sponsors to make sure they aren’t using AI before working with them.

I’m really careful about sponsorships. Whenever I get an offer, the very first thing I ask is for them to thoroughly check that it doesn’t involve AI. I’ve made it clear – I just won’t work with anything that uses it.

They told me everything was okay, but then I discovered that wasn’t true. I was shocked and frustrated, and I couldn’t believe they thought I wouldn’t notice!

As of today, Hotta Studio hasn’t officially said whether any parts of the game were created using AI. However, they previously explained in an interview that key elements like core game assets and character designs were made entirely by humans and won’t involve AI.

The developers explained they primarily used AI tools in the beginning stages of development, specifically for creating initial visual ideas and experimenting with how the game’s environments would look.
