Today is May the 4th, the day Star Wars fans celebrate everything they love about the series! People are revisiting classic movies, playing games like Battlefront 2, and even watching Chef Gormaanda’s amazing baking skills. It’s been a while since we’ve gotten a new Star Wars game, so the modding community has really stepped up to create new experiences for fans.
Mods have long been able to change how we experience games, and over time, incredibly talented fans have made impressive Star Wars mods. These mods essentially turn existing games into completely new Star Wars adventures.
Some projects simply change the visual style of existing games, letting you play as the Rebel Alliance or the Empire instead of the usual forces. Others completely remake the game to feel like a true Star Wars adventure.
Want to celebrate Star Wars this year with a new game? Here are some fun mods for existing games that transform them into Star Wars experiences – they’re definitely worth checking out!
8. XCOM 2
A Star Wars Revamp of a Turn-Based Tactics Experience

Excited about the upcoming Star Wars: Zero Company? While you wait, you can enjoy a lot of fantastic mods for XCOM 2 that will keep you busy!
This mod lets you transform your XCOM soldiers into the iconic Delta Squad from the game Republic Commando, even using the original voice lines. Instead of fighting aliens, you’ll command troops against waves of battle droids, recreating the feel of leading soldiers during the Clone Wars.
If you’re looking for a Star Wars strategy game similar to XCOM 2, the XCOM 2: Star Wars Total Conversion collection is a fantastic option. It gathers many popular mods into one package, letting you create a fully customized campaign. It’s a great way to experience Star Wars turn-based combat with squad tactics while we wait for the release of Star Wars: Zero Company.
As a huge Star Wars fan and an XCOM player, I’ve been checking out GGMods.com and they have a ton of awesome mods – including a bunch of Star Wars stuff! It’s the best place to find everything you need to completely change up how XCOM looks and plays.
7. Helldivers 2
A Unique Take on the Clone Wars
The Helldivers game clearly takes inspiration from the Star Wars universe, and this latest development feels like a fitting connection for the franchise.
Although there isn’t one single mod to completely change the game, many individual mods let you turn Helldivers 2 into a Star Wars experience. You can swap the standard Helldiver for clone troopers and drop into a battle against the Separatists, focusing on surviving with as few losses as possible.
You can find mods that swap your spaceship for the iconic Venator-class starships, creating an immersive experience as you watch battles unfold right before your eyes. Plus, there are weapon re-skins available to give you the look and feel of classic Star Wars games if you prefer that familiar style.
These mods make Helldivers 2 feel surprisingly like a Star Wars game, and it’s easy to imagine an official Star Wars version being made. If you’re curious, you can check out these mods and experience it yourself!
6. Insurgency Sandstorm: Star Wars Sagas
The Battlefront Sequel We Deserve
Although a new Star Wars Battlefront 3 hasn’t been released, the Insurgency Sandstorm Star Wars Sagas mod is a great option if you’re searching for a similar, tactical combat experience.
This game feels remarkably similar to Battlefront 2, with some maps looking almost exactly the same. However, it’s much bigger in scope, emphasizing satisfying shooting mechanics, extensive weapon options, and large-scale air battles. You’ll often see massive Star Destroyers looming overhead, firing down on the battlefield, which creates thrilling dogfights.
This mod reimagines beloved maps from the original PlayStation 2 version of Battlefront 2, like Utapau, and updates them for today’s gamers. As a long-time fan of the classic game, I think this mod does the best job I’ve seen of recreating that original feel and bringing it to a modern gaming experience.
If you’ve been playing Star Wars games for a while, you should definitely check out this mod. Join one of their big player-versus-player events, or gather some friends for the exciting player-versus-environment modes.
5. Stellaris
Even More Space Battles!
There are tons of Star Wars mods for Stellaris, and it can take hours to sort through them all. If you want a really comprehensive mod, I suggest Star Wars: New Dawn. It completely changes the game, offering much more than just updated graphics.
This mod enhances the game with a variety of Star Wars-inspired visuals and introduces new gameplay features. These include story-driven events, challenging crises, new ship designs, and playable species, among other additions.
New Dawn begins immediately after the events of Revenge of the Sith and explores the growth of the Galactic Empire leading up to A New Hope. The game lets you experience the story from the perspective of different groups, like the Hutt cartels and Mandalorian clans, offering a break from the typical Empire versus Rebels conflict.
Good Star Wars strategy games are rare, and this mod perfectly fills that gap if you’ve been looking for one. You should definitely check it out!
This one also has a great list of options on GGMods.com.
4. Blade & Sorcery
Wacky Lightsaber Physics
Blade & Sorcery offers a one-of-a-kind virtual reality sword-fighting experience, and adding the world of Star Wars makes it even more incredible.
As a huge Blade & Sorcery fan, I’m completely blown away by The Outer Rim mod! It basically transforms the game, adding over 400 awesome new things like lightsabers, blasters, and even completely new locations and characters. It lets you really live out your Star Wars fantasies, becoming a Jedi or a Scoundrel. What’s really cool is that you can customize your weapons, so it feels like your personal experience. It’s incredible!
If you loved Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith and dreamed of surviving Order 66 or helping the Jedi arrest Palpatine, now you can experience those scenarios. This VR experience offers all of that and more, making it the most immersive Star Wars VR game available today.
3. X4: Foundations – Star Wars Interworlds
A Space-Focused Sandbox to Lose Yourself In
If you enjoy games like FTL and Stellaris, you’ll probably love X4: Foundations. What’s even better is that it has some amazing Star Wars mods that completely change the game, making it a dream come true for any Star Wars enthusiast.
Star Wars Interworlds is a mod that completely transforms the game into a Star Wars space simulation. It offers a vast sandbox experience with large ships, massive fleets, distinct factions, a functioning economy, and exciting space combat. If you’ve ever dreamed of leading a Rebellion against the Empire, this mod lets you do just that.
X4: Foundations isn’t like typical space combat games; it focuses on creating a realistic simulator experience where players can pursue any path they choose. You can be a skilled fighter pilot, command a massive warship, or build an entire galactic empire. And with this mod, you can live out those dreams in the Star Wars universe.

Ever dreamed of flying as a skilled Rebel pilot fighting the Empire, or living the life of a daring smuggler dodging bounty hunters? Now you can! This mod also includes many familiar planets from the Star Wars universe, making you feel like you’re truly part of that world. If you’re looking for the ultimate Star Wars space adventure, this mod delivers.
2. Squad: Galactic Contention
An All-Out Military Shooter to Rival Battlefront 2
It’s almost been ten years since Star Wars Battlefront 2, which was the last big Star Wars shooter we made at DICE. But what if I told you there’s a new shooter out there that’s even bigger and has incredibly satisfying gun combat?
If you’re looking for a fantastic Star Wars experience, check out Squad: Galactic Contention. It’s a mod for the already impressive Squad first-person shooter, and it completely transforms the game. This mod is a tribute to the Star Wars prequels, featuring over 20 large maps, a wide variety of vehicles, and numerous Clone factions inspired by both the animated series and the older “Legends” stories.
Compared to Battlefront 2, this game features much more dangerous combat. You can be taken down with a single, unexpected blaster shot, which really raises the stakes in every fight. This also means squads can be wiped out quickly when moving into new areas. While this intense realism might not appeal to all players, it offers a uniquely challenging and gritty experience for those wanting a more authentic Clone Wars feel.
Don’t hold your breath for a new Star Wars: Battlefront 3. However, if you’re interested in a similar, fast-paced Star Wars-style shooter, Squad: Galactic Contention is definitely worth checking out.
1. Starfield – Star Wars Genesis
The Best Way to Play Starfield
If you were disappointed with what Starfield offered, the Star Wars: Genesis mod could be the key to getting the most out of the game.
Starfield has been working hard to bring players back with a new expansion and a free update that lets you actually pilot your ship. However, a mod called Star Wars: Genesis has had an even bigger impact, effectively turning Starfield into a completely different Star Wars experience.
This mod list completely changes how you play the game, featuring over 300 carefully selected modifications. If you haven’t heard about it yet, it’s definitely worth exploring! You’ll get to pilot a bounty hunter ship, wear Mandalorian armor, and even wield a lightsaber against updated enemies.
This modpack features a completely new storyline where you’ll align with a Star Wars faction and embark on missions to famous planets like Tatooine, Coruscant, and Nar Shaddaa. It might take a little setup, but it’s well worth it – this is currently one of the most enjoyable ways to experience Starfield.
