Fans might soon see Superman, Aquaman, and other popular DC characters return – not in a movie, but in a new video game called Injustice 3. Details about the game were unexpectedly revealed by an artist.
It’s been nine years since the last Injustice game came out – making many of us feel a little older! Injustice brought a unique experience to fighting games by combining the DC universe with the gameplay of Mortal Kombat. Because of its connection to the popular (and sometimes rocky) DC films and generally excellent TV shows, the game quickly built a large and dedicated fanbase.
After a mistake by one of the developers, it’s now confirmed: NetherRealm Studios’ next game will be Injustice 3.
Injustice 3 is in active development according to leaks
MP1st recently spotted a Warner Bros. Games artist’s resume revealing their current projects. While we were already aware of Hogwarts Legacy 2 and anticipating other unannounced games, the most interesting part was the listing of “Injustice 3 TBD,” hinting at a potential new installment in the fighting game series.
While this is just a brief acknowledgment of the game, the artist suggests it confirms the game is still being made and is currently in development.
This isn’t the first time information about Injustice 3 has leaked, which strengthens the idea that earlier reports were accurate. Back in February 2025, news surfaced that James Gunn was discussing a new DC game with NetherRealm Studios. Even before that, Ed Boon, a key creator of Mortal Kombat and Injustice, hinted his next big project would be either ‘Injustice 3’ or ‘Mortal Kombat 12.’ Since ‘Mortal Kombat 12’ was released in 2023, that leaves ‘Injustice 3’ as the remaining game he was referring to.
In May 2025, a source known for accurate information playfully complained about the game MultiVersus being shut down and potentially relaunched, suggesting another Injustice game was on the way. They jokingly called it a series of unfair actions to not receive any advance information.
With all the recent leaks and discussions, it seems very likely that Injustice 3 will soon let us play as iconic characters like Batman, Superman, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, and Killer Croc.
