Pragmata fans support dad whose late daughter looked just like Diana

A father recently gained widespread attention online after sharing a touching story about the loss of his daughter, who bears a striking resemblance to the character Diana from the video game Pragmata, both in appearance and personality.

I recently came across a really heartbreaking Reddit post. This user, TheRealDuke, shared that he lost his daughter, McKenzie Erin, way too young – she was only eight years old when she passed away back in 2009. It’s just a really tough story.

She began experiencing seizures and a fast heart rate when she was just 11 months old. These heart issues developed into a more serious condition called Super Ventricular Tachycardia (SVT) by the time she was eight years old. Sadly, this led to a seizure while she was playing outside, and she passed away in the hospital six days later.

His daughter, Ella, introduced him to gaming, and he found it to be a relaxing hobby, often playing games like Fortnite and Red Dead Redemption.

He recently discovered Capcom’s upcoming game, Pragmata, which centers on the relationship between a lunar engineer named Hugh and Diana, an incredibly realistic android who acts like a child. The original poster explained that he and his wife, Ella, immediately recognized a resemblance between Diana and their deceased daughter.

Pragmata director responds to father’s heartbreaking post

I was watching videos of the game PRAGMATA, and my daughter Ella noticed the main character reminded her of photos of her sister, McKenzie. She wondered if the character was similar to McKenzie, so I bought the full game. We started playing, and it turned out the character really is a lot like both of my daughters!

I’ve been really moved while playing this game, honestly. But beyond just being emotional, it’s actually been incredibly helpful for me, which is amazing.

I might have gotten a little emotional. I truly love this game and the time I get to spend playing it with Ella. It’s actually been really healing for me, a real comfort to my soul.

I couldn’t believe how quickly that post blew up! It got over 8,000 upvotes on Reddit, and so many other Pragmata fans left supportive comments – over 300, actually! It was amazing when the Game Director, Cho Yong-hee, even saw it and replied on X, just saying “Thank you very much.” It felt really good to see him acknowledge it.
