If you’ve been waiting to purchase Rock Band 4 digitally, you only have a few days left. The popular party rhythm game from Harmonix will no longer be available on the PlayStation and Xbox stores starting this Sunday, October 5th – almost ten years after it first came out.
Harmonix producer Kyle Wynn announced that Wario64 noticed on X that the game would soon be delisted. Wynn explained on the official Rock Band Discord server that “the original licenses for the core soundtrack are expiring,” but players who already own the game digitally will still be able to access and install it.
Rock Band 4 will no longer be available for purchase starting October 5, 2025 – the licenses for the original music tracks are running out.
Downloadable content (DLC) will also be removed. The Rock Band 4 Rivals Bundle is currently available for $9.99:

Wynn also explained that downloadable content (DLC) songs will eventually be removed from sale after being available digitally for 10 years. However, anyone who has already bought these songs will continue to have access to them in their music libraries. The core Rock Band 4 game came with 65 songs, and support for downloadable content, including the Rivals expansion, continued until January 2024. More details can be found on the official website.
“If you’ve been wanting to download a few more songs, now is the perfect moment,” Wynn stated at the conclusion of the announcement.
A common reason older games disappear from digital stores is when their music licenses run out. It’s therefore not surprising that many of Harmonix’s classic rhythm games haven’t been available on digital platforms for a while. This is often the main cause, and it’s a situation many gamers understand.
For example, Rock Band 3 was removed from sale in October 2015, which was five years after it first came out. Of course, you can still play the physical disc versions of these games, and they’re available for purchase from resellers and secondhand stores.
Since 2021, Harmonix has been part of Epic Games, and they’re the team behind Fortnite Festival – a game mode similar to Rock Band. Fortnite Festival keeps things fresh with regularly updated songs, a music pass subscription, and performances by popular artists, with Gorillaz being the most recent headliner.
