Owlcat Games has begun the closed beta for The Expanse: Osiris Reborn. Access is available now to players who pre-ordered either the Miller’s Pack or the Collector’s Edition.
Owlcat Games released a new video explaining the beta’s features and how they work. Game design director Leonid Rastorguev and lead designer Grigory Ponomarev walk viewers through everything in the video.
Hayes got to try out the new closed beta early and shared his thoughts, saying ‘Osiris Reborn could be the game to satisfy fans missing Mass Effect.’
You can find a new developer diary video, along with its description and several screenshots, courtesy of Owlcat Games. Visit their official website for more details.
If you haven’t heard, Owlcat Games has already shown off the characters you’ll encounter in The Expanse: Osiris Reborn.
Owlcat Games has begun the closed beta for backers of their game, The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Those who bought the Collector’s Edition or Miller’s Pack directly from the game’s website can now play and test out the game’s exciting combat, zero-gravity movement, and the dangerous atmosphere of a distant space station, while also meeting some of their crewmates. The full game is scheduled to release on PC and consoles in Spring 2027.
The Expanse: Osiris Reborn is an action role-playing game set in the world of The Expanse, where your choices matter and building relationships with your team is key. You play as a mercenary for Pinkwater Security who barely survives a disaster on Eros and must now assemble a crew to fight against the dangerous Protogen corporation and their experiments. Although it takes place in the familiar Expanse universe, this game tells a brand new story with original characters.
During the closed beta, players who are founders can create a character: a woman from the Belt or a man from Earth. They’ll also choose whether their character is skilled as an officer or a hacker. Along with their friendly sibling, J, and the experienced mechanic Zafar, players will investigate a distant space station owned by their company, Pinkwater Security. This takes place after they’ve escaped the disaster on Eros, a location fans will recognize from the books and TV show.
During the closed beta, players will be able to meet and talk to the people living on the space station, trying out different conversation options and learning what life is like for a group of mercenaries. When the people responsible for the attack on Eros finally find them, the action will begin, and players will get a chance to test out the game’s upgrade system.
When the game officially launches, players will have more options for their character’s origin story, including Mars, in addition to the Belt and Earth. They’ll also be able to further customize their characters with more specializations than were available during the beta test.
The beta version of the game is now available for players who have purchased The Collector’s Edition or Miller’s Pack. You can access it on Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and PlayStation 5 until the game officially launches in Spring 2027. These Founder’s Packs are available for purchase on our website. Please keep in mind that this is a beta, so you may experience varying performance – it doesn’t represent the final game quality. For the best experience on consoles, we recommend playing on Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5.
Owlcat aims to incorporate valuable player feedback collected from the beta into the final game.
The Expanse: Osiris Reborn will be available in spring 2027 for PC players on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and GOG. It’s also coming to Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 consoles. Players can add the game to their wishlist today.
