Third and final Early Access update now available for Frosthaven, titled Into The Abyss

Arc Games and Snapshot Games have launched the final Early Access update for Frosthaven, called Into the Abyss. It’s available now on Steam and the Epic Games Store. This update follows two previous releases: Awakening Protocol (October 2025) and Legacy of the Algox (January 2026).

The new ‘Into the Abyss’ update introduces a story called ‘Lurker’ taking place in the Biting Sea. It also adds two new characters you can play, and includes various improvements to gameplay and overall user experience.

Arc Games and Snapshot Games have launched the final update for the early access version of Frosthaven, titled Into the Abyss. This update is now available on Steam and the Epic Games Store for players who own the digital version of the popular tactical RPG board game created by Isaac Childres and Cephalofair Games. Into the Abyss introduces a new story campaign called ‘The Lurker,’ set in the underwater depths, along with two new playable characters, a new pet, and several improvements players have been asking for.

Snapshot Games, led by the creator of X-COM, Julian Gollop, and in partnership with board game designer Isaac Childres and Cephalofair Games, is releasing the final Early Access update for Frosthaven, called Into the Abyss. While the town of Frosthaven has been relatively safe behind its walls, a new danger is rising from the depths of the nearby sea. An incredibly powerful, ancient artifact is sending out disturbing visions, and heroes must now explore both the surface and the icy waters below to find it before it’s discovered by enemies.

Expanding the world of Frosthaven, Into the Abyss focuses on the enigmatic Lurkers and introduces two new playable heroes. These heroes offer unique ways to play and add more strategic options when building a team, designed for players who are already familiar with the game.

  • “Coral” channels the power of the sea, manipulating tides and battlefield positioning to control encounters and overwhelm enemies.
  • “Kelp” lurks in the shadows and specializes in assassinating enemies, collecting trophies from their victims and using them to grow stronger.
