Pokemon fan goes viral after being gifted vintage 1999 pack from boss

One Pokémon fan had a surprisingly great start to their week when their boss gave them a vintage pack of cards – a rare find that hasn’t been available since 1999.

Pokemon card collectors are always excited to find new cards, no matter where they come from. One fan recently had an incredible stroke of luck: he discovered a set of vintage Pokemon cards – over 27 years old – just by going to work!

You won’t believe what happened to me today! I came into work and found a ‘The First Movie’ Pokemon card pack left on my chair. Apparently, my boss, who’s in his 80s and doesn’t know anything about cards, somehow found out I collect Pokemon and wanted to surprise me. It definitely made my Monday a whole lot better!

His boss was getting rid of some old items and decided to give them to him instead of throwing them away.

Bosses’ gift turns out to be rare pack of Pokemon cards

These aren’t ordinary trading cards you could find anywhere. This special pack was a promotional item given only to people who saw the first Pokémon movie in theaters. The movie, originally released in Japan in 1998 and in the US in 1999, was the very first Pokémon animated film.

I was so lucky to get one of those special packs at the movie screening! They had cards showing all the best scenes from the film – everything from the epic battle with Mewtwo to those really sweet moments where Pikachu, Squirtle, and the others worked together. It was awesome!

After the movie finished playing in theaters, these special packs were no longer sold and can now only be found from private sellers.

Okay, so Monday started wildly. My boss is, let’s just say, a bit older and has zero clue about the hobby, but he knows I’m really into Pokemon cards. He actually left this card on my chair today, just for me to find! It was a surprise, to say the least.

Some collectors have pointed out that a sealed, original pack can fetch around $100 online. However, the person who posted the picture thinks this particular pack is likely worth about $50.

He’s not going to sell it, though. He plans to keep it unopened and has already bought a case to protect it.

While this vintage Pokemon card pack isn’t the most valuable one ever created, it’s still an amazing find, especially considering it was a gift from their boss.
