Taylor Sheridan’s most-watched show is knocked off its perch on Paramount+.
News that Sheridan was moving from Paramount to NBCUniversal caused quite a reaction late last year. This meant Paramount, recently led by David Ellison, would lose its most productive producer to a rival company.
There was some good news for Paramount: Taylor Sheridan’s new TV deal won’t begin until January 2029, after his current contract ends. This means fans can still enjoy shows he’s created, like Lioness, Tulsa King, and Landman, for a while longer.
I was really enjoying Marshals, Taylor Sheridan’s new show – it’s connected to the Yellowstone universe – but it looks like South Park is still king! According to FlixPatrol, South Park has been number one in the U.S. since April 14th. Marshals has been moving around a bit, usually at number two, but sometimes dropping into the top five. It’s a good show, but South Park‘s clearly still got a huge following!
The difference in viewership is understandable given the shows’ histories. South Park is a long-running, well-known series with many seasons already completed. Marshals, however, is a newer drama currently airing its first season, so its numbers will naturally change week to week depending on whether a new episode is released.
Even after 28 seasons, South Park continues to thrive by sparking debate. Recent episodes have focused on President Donald Trump and his policies, staying true to the show’s history of building stories around current events. This strategy has proven successful, leading to a $1.5 billion deal with Paramount+ for five more seasons.
The popular series Marshals is taking a new direction with a Yellowstone spin-off. This new show will star Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton and be led by showrunner Spencer Hudnut, working alongside Taylor Sheridan. The story follows Kayce as he steps away from the Dutton Ranch to begin a surprising new phase of his life.
The cast of Marshals includes Brecken Merrill, Mo Brings Plenty, Gil Birmingham, Logan Marshall-Green, Arielle Kebbel, Ash Santos, and Tatanka Means. The show also features country music artist Adam Sanders, a winner from the reality competition The Road.

The show quickly became Sheridan’s most popular, attracting over 26 million viewers. It performed remarkably well, ranking just behind the final season of Stranger Things, which demonstrates its immediate success and led to a swift renewal for a second season.
Marshals season 1airs Sundays at 8 PM ET on CBS.
