Oscar Isaac Confirms Midnight Sons Talk, Wants Ghost Rider Team-up With Huge Star

Although Marvel Studios hasn’t officially announced a Midnight Sons movie, Oscar Isaac (who plays Moon Knight in the Marvel Cinematic Universe) has revealed that the idea has been discussed. In a recent interview, Isaac also mentioned he’d be excited to see his character team up with Ghost Rider, with Ryan Gosling as a potential choice for the role.

Oscar Isaac on Moon Knight return in Midnight Sons

During an interview on Josh Horowitz’s podcast, actor Steven Yeun, known for his role in ‘Beef’ Season 2, explained that he decided to take on the role in ‘Moon Knight’ because he admired the work of its director, Mohamed Diab, particularly his film ‘Cairo 6,7,8’.

I was so fascinated to hear Oscar Isaac talk about why he took on the role! He mentioned on the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast that what really drew him to the Disney+ series was the chance to have a lot of creative freedom. More importantly, he was deeply interested in seriously exploring the complexities of Dissociative Identity Disorder, which his character lives with, and he wanted the space to do that authentically.

Isaac mentioned discussions about him reprising his role as Marc Spector in a possible Midnight Sons project. He emphasized the importance of the project’s tone, stating it deals with serious and emotionally complex themes, and aims to portray authentic, challenging experiences.

As a huge fan of these kinds of stories, I really appreciated when the Dune actor talked about how important it is to treat characters like Moon Knight with respect, even if the original comics get pretty wild. It’s great they’re not shying away from the source material’s more unusual aspects.

It’s worth noting that Isaac’s recent statements follow rumors from a few months ago suggesting he’d have a significant part in the upcoming Midnight Sons film.

Isaac wants Moon Knight and Ghost Rider team up

Podcast host Josh Horowitz also shared with the Golden Globe winner that he’d been trying for years to get Ryan Gosling cast as Ghost Rider.

As a huge film fan, I loved hearing Oscar Isaac publicly support the idea of Ryan Gosling as Ghost Rider! He basically said it’s a total no-brainer and fans should make it happen. He even joked about a hilarious team-up – imagining his Moon Knight and Mahershala Ali’s Blade riding on the back of Gosling’s Ghost Rider, holding on tight! He went so far as to ask fans to create a fan poster of this epic trio, which I think is a brilliant idea.

So, I recently heard Ryan Gosling talking about potentially playing Ghost Rider in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He confirmed to Horowitz that they did actually talk about it, but it wasn’t a straightforward thing to make happen. Still, he seemed pretty hopeful about it, saying they’re keeping the possibility alive, which is awesome to hear as a fan!
