Dungeons & Dragons Gets First Official Actual Play Series

The first official game-playing series is coming soon, and it features some well-known figures from the gaming world as its players.

Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast are launching their first official Dungeons & Dragons actual-play series called Dungeon Masters. The show will debut on YouTube on April 22nd with two episodes, and Jasmine Bhullar, a guest Dungeon Master from Dimension 20, will lead the game.

What Can Fans Expect from Hasbro’s Dungeon Masters?

Joining Bhullar on Dungeon Masters will be a group of popular players, including Mayanna Berrin from StoryQuest: Supernova, Christian Navarro known from 13 Reasons Why, and the voice actors behind Astarion (Neil Newbon) and Lae’zel (Devora Wilde) from Baldur’s Gate III. Wizards of the Coast says the show is designed to be enjoyed by both longtime D&D fans and people completely new to the game.

Wizards of the Coast announced that the first season of Dungeon Masters will take place in Ravenloft, a dark and gothic setting, and connect directly with the new Ravenloft: The Horrors Within book, available June 16th. Each week, new episodes of Dungeon Masters will showcase unreleased D&D content through the D&D Beyond app.

Actor Christian Navarro, who is joining the show, explained that on Dungeon Masters, the characters the players are controlling aren’t revealed to the audience. Viewers might recognize characters within the game, and the players themselves might too, but the stories and relationships between the player characters are all new and unfolding as they play, making for a fresh and exciting experience.

What Else Is Next for the World of Dungeons & Dragons?

Dungeons & Dragons fans have several exciting projects to anticipate, including a new live-action series called The Forgotten Realms coming to Netflix. Shawn Levy is producing the series, and Drew Crevello is the writer and showrunner.

The game will be set in the famous world of Dungeons & Dragons – a beloved fantasy realm known for its iconic characters and many popular adventures.

Even though the video game The Forgotten Realms isn’t out yet, fans haven’t lost interest in Dungeons & Dragons. In fact, a very popular group of adventurers from the franchise is nearing the end of their comic book story.

Jaleigh Johnson introduced the group known as the Fallbacks in her 2024 novel, Dungeons & Dragons: The Fallbacks: Bound for Ruin. The story follows a diverse team – the young thief Tessalynde, the headstrong fighter Anson, the self-taught wizard Cazrin, the strategic cleric Baldric, the unexpectedly modest bard Lark, and their pet otyugh, Uggie – as they learn to work together and discover they’re stronger as a unit than they are individually.

Dungeon Masters‘ two-episode YouTube premiere is slated for April 22.
