Arc Raiders has lost almost 80% of its players this year on Steam

Okay, so I was really hyped for Arc Raiders when it first came out, but it looks like a lot of other players aren’t sticking around. I’ve noticed the player numbers have dropped a lot – almost 80% since the beginning of 2026, which is a shame. It started strong, but now it feels like people are losing interest.

The game quickly became popular after its launch, reaching a peak of nearly 482,000 players on Steam on November 16, 2025, as reported by SteamDB. It continued to attract a large audience throughout the rest of the year, with over 428,000 players still enjoying it on January 1, 2026.

Player numbers have been decreasing since the beginning of the year. As of April 16th, the game reached a peak of 90,138 players in a single day, which is a significant 79% decrease from the number of players on January 1st.

Currently, the game still ranks as the 15th most popular on Steam based on peak player numbers in a 24-hour period, which is more players than games like Overwatch and Marvel Rivals. It’s important to note these figures don’t include players on consoles. Despite this, the player count represents a significant decrease compared to what was expected from a game so highly praised by critics.

What’s causing this decrease? Several things likely contributed. One reason is simply that, after being available for almost six months, players naturally start to shift their attention to newer games.

Dedicated players have expressed frustration with a lack of new content, a concern the developers have already recognized. While the game received substantial updates monthly in 2026 – including new enemies, challenges, and quests – many feel these additions haven’t been enough to maintain long-term engagement.

Some believe Embark focused too much on cooperative gameplay with Arc Raiders, which may have driven players seeking competitive, player-versus-player experiences to games like Marathon.
